You have to remove the grill. It takes about a minute to do so.

Neither. If you replace it your new one will have the same hole. If you weld it up the condensation will have no where to drain and the muffler will rust from the inside out. That hole is not the cause of the drone.

A dead bus isn't too hard to diag but the intermittent ones that go down then back up will make you say bad words.

Makes perfect sense. Like I said, I don't believe in coincidence. Normally when the bus is out the headlights and wipers go on. Sometimes the defroster activates as well.

I'm a skeptic and don't believe in coincidence. They installed an aftermarket GMRS radio and now you are having a strange electrical problem. They may have tied into a bus wire or grabbed power from somewhere they shouldn't have. Maybe ran a screw through a harness, who knows? Hopefully...
