Well, there isn't a Max Tow package Rubicon, it is just a Rubicon. Jeep figures that there are people that want a GR that aren't interested in towing and want a manual, so they have it.
The manual transmission is limited by the clutch to 4500# towing. The max tow package was created for best in...
After divorce: Sell Jeep, sell beer fridge, sell mod parts to pay divorce attorney. Drink Natty light out of a Styrofoam cooler because it is all you can afford. (Fixed it for ya!)
I voted Rubicon for the extra towing capacity. I wish they would make an Overland with the Max Tow package. That way, those of us that don't necessarily need lockers can get the luxury features (leather, upgraded infotainment, etc), can get those and not sacrifice capacity.
I'm not a Jeeper (yet!) but I figure jeep culture is what you make of it. You want to go trailing with other Jeepers, go to Jeep Jamborees, Camp Jeep etc, you can, but if you don't you don't have to.
I drove a Ram Mega cab for a while, and it was a beast. The Gladiator is 9 inches shorter and has a 3 inch shorter wheelbase than my Ram 2500 Quad cab short bed. I am excited about the smaller dimensions.
I for one hope that the bed rail caps are standard. I was very happy when mfgrs started putting bed rail caps on their trucks as standard equipment. Bed top rails are an area that are prone to scratches and dings.
Agreed. I get that they are selling this as a "Lifestyle Vehicle." However, for many of us, it will also be our daily driver, and will get used for many tasks, including the occasional home improvement project, which may involve sheeted goods--plywood, drywall, pegboard, latice, beadboard, etc...
I get what you are saying, and I don't get the difference in payload numbers, unless the axle/springs are not as strong? The Max tow has 4.10 axle ratio, but I wouldn't think that would make a difference in payload.
We had a similar discussion in another thread. There isn't a Max Tow Overland...
Practically speaking, probably so, but from a "Legal" perspective no. The published payload number does not change with modifications. Payload is GVWR-dry weight-150 lb driver.
Folks that tow will sometimes install airbags to improve ride height and increase rear suspension stiffness, but the...
I get what the OP is saying. If you want towing, you have 2 options--Sport S Max Tow, or Rubicon. If you want a capable JT with leather, nav, all the bells and whistles, but don't need lockers, the disconnecting sway bar, or a 4:1 t-case, your only option is the Overland, but since there isn't...
