Met my gf while we were sking. I have since gotten her into mountain biking, gravel riding and camping. She hated my Focus ST, called it a little zipper car, and it didn't have enough room when we were heading out on an adventure. I had been eyeing the JT for a while and had planned to pick one...
I just got off the phone with my dealership. I told them that the steering feels lose and I am constantly wandering down the road. They scheduled me for an inspection next Tues, and then they will order the parts.
I just picked mine up from the dealer for excessive brake dust on only the front right. I thought I had a caliper hanging up but they said nothing was wrong.
I have always felt that my JT wandered a lot and needed a lot of steering input. But I chalked it up to it being my first Jeep and coming...
The roll up tonneau cover can be rolled back with the voodoo mounts, but it is more difficult and time consuming, with the crossbars installed. I wish the mounting feet were about 2 inches taller, then it would be very easy.
I had the same wants as you, only with 2 bikes at a time. I wanted wheel on so I didnt have to worry about different thru axel sizes between road and mountain bikes.
I followed this thread for a DIY trail rail system
Then I picked up a the kb voodoo feet and cross bars.
And then what ever...
I am going to end up welding a nut in 6 places on the bottom of the Voodoo crossbars. The bike racks have a bolt hole in them. So I can bolt down through the rack and into the welded nut. This is the easiest, quickest solution I could come up with.
Using the uni-strut fittings they can be loosened pretty easily and the mounts slide easily on the rail. I am not sure if my prep sucked or I didn't let it dry long enough before install, but the bed liner paint seems to chip off pretty easy. I plan to have them powder coated in the future.
PS...
I ended up buying the KB Voodoo crossbar system and Yakima High Roads bike racks. The crossbars are too wide for the straps that come on the High Roads. I need to find another solution.
Uni-strut bedrails installed for a total cost of $41.00. There is a large expansion going on at work and they had some uni-strut pieces that were cut to the wrong lengths. Checked with the Maintenance Manager and the Project Manager, both said take what you want. The only cost to me was bed...
I installed the KB Voodoo High Rise foot kit this afternoon. I don't have the trail rail system so I used the no drill kit. I am not happy with how they attach, and not comfy with putting my bikes on them when my new bike racks arrive.
I will be installing this DIY in the very near future.
Were you thinking of mounting the 2x12 where the Trail Rail system would go? If so there is a good thread in here where unistrut is used to make a DIY trail rail system for ~$130.
BTW: I had my Gladiator in the ADKs over the weekend, up in LP.
I want to do this set up too. RIght now I am trying to decide between the Yakima Front Loader or the one up. I switch between mountain, road and gravel bikes so I am going to avoid fork mounts because the bike all have different through axles.
I have been using my Kuat hitch mount, but I want...

If I am reading this page correctly the Rubicon should be able to tow 7K without the max towing package.
The hitch I intalled is the factory hitch capable of towing 7600lbs. As far as I know the Rubicon can tow 7000lbs. This should be more than substantial.
The swap went well last night, we only ran into one issue. The new receiver did not come with the inserts for the bolts that attach the bumper to the bottom of the hitch. We tried to get the inserts out of the original one, with no luck. Other than that, it went pretty smoothly.
