Here's where I put mine. I don't have the Trail Rail system so there's plenty of room for the clamps.

The straps don't go on those clamps. The clamp you have that attached to is for clamping the cover rails to the bedside. Remove the strap and attach it to the nuts and washer on the underside of the front of the cover and the straps work fine. Hope this helps.
