I had zero trouble with my ARE topper. Paint is identical match as I gave them the paint code for the hard top. I have the built in toolbox on drivers side as well. Personally think ARE is best looking cover Looks like factory fit. Sorry you had issues but that happens in all things.
I have skid plate too but will be pulling a 6800 lb camper across the country. Thatās why I am considering it. Hopefully someone has one and gives us good information on it
Does your weight distribution hitch not have holes to lower and raise hitch? I have 1 1/2 inch in front and 3/4 inch on back with 35s and just lowered my hitch a couple holes. I pull a 6800 lb camper

Hereās the cheapest way. I have a similar one and I just pull what ever I need to the back. Keep it inside the bed where it is easy to reach I have an ARE cover and I keep it on the inside lip of cover
