I see you are from Ohio. Where abouts?
I must say, when I am in the Toledo area of Ohio, Jeeps are king. My assumption is that if you worked for FCA a JK, JL, or JT was your vehicle of choice.
I'm in a class in Reynoldsburg (Columbus area) and I have seen a handful of nice looking JTs while on my walks around the OFA. Saw a couple of overland setups on 71 near the Mohican area too.
I plan to level the front of my Willys as soon as I get it. @WetWilly - I will be driving my parents back down in October. They are about 20 minutes south of you. Hit me up in late summer and I will do the wrenching for you. You provide the OFF. I hate those noseeums.
When do you have a week in Tampa with no rain? I come down to the TB area a lot in the winter to visit my parents and did some stretches in the military in central Florida - it seems like those stretches would be infrequent and super hard to predict. Just wondering.
When I had my TJs back in the day, with soft tops, I kept nothing valuable in the vehicle and didn't lock the doors. I did this to prevent idiots from cutting the windows to get in (to find nothing). Mind you, this was in decent/good neighborhoods and I wasn't too worried about IT being stolen...
So you like "Jeep Spice" - the middle one? I am leaning to #4 & 5. But the orange-ish hue contrasting the Gobi could work. I am planning to do orange highlights to the JEEP on the tailgate, the tow-a-Tacoma hooks. Might look good.
Ha, thanks - I'll keep my ass out of the epoxy. And try to keep my pants on. I used this product on a Wesfalia Vanagon a few years back - pulled out the past-its-prime carpet and rolled out this product throughout. Pretty simple process.
Still waiting for the Gobi Willys to arrive at Gupton, ordered 3/8/22.
I didn't order the bedliner as I was thinking of doing a matching color roll-on bed liner. Now that I have the samples from Monstaliner AND I found a gobi JK in a parking lot, I got to compare them to the factory color in...
Top and doors off is the closest thing you can get to a motorcycle- it will get you feeling a little "exposed".
You southern guys are killing me with the it "gets a little chilly..."
If the roads are clear, it's riding weather!
I think the contrast will look great too. Whether it's Spice or OD Green. If I can't get a near-perfect Gobi match, I'll probably pick the contrast color. Thanks.
As I mentioned in the first post, I pulled the smelly carpet out of a 1982 VW Vanagon Westfalia, (pulled the entire interior out, cabinets, appliances, seats, etc.) and used this product. It is a DIY prep & install, but it's not that difficult. They claim the colors are UV resistant and filler...
The top right sample is really looking pink in these pics, though with a name like Yank My Doodle, its bound to get pink after a while, but I actually think it is the closest to matching Gobi.
Here is another pic of it in my hand (also wearing khaki pants).
