  1. Gladiator Diesel Bottoming Out Poll - Let’s get some numbers here.

I never noticed it happening until I added the Warn Winch. Then my Mopar 2" Lift came in and it has never bottomed out since. I have upgraded the Fox Shocks too.
  2. Let's see those Fall Colors.

    Black Bear! Love Telluride.
  3. Mopar factory trailer brake controller - my impressions and review

I installed this by myself. It is pretty simple and it works flawlessly on my 2021 Rubicon EcoDiesel. Just FYI.
  4. Gladiator Expedition Rigs

The struts in the back are to take some of the load when popping up the top. I have a couple different ones depending on how much gear is going on top. Another weight saving DIY was the Lolo bike carriers. I cannot see any since in a 30-50lb bike rack.
  5. Gladiator Expedition Rigs

Here was my concept back when I ordered my 2021 Gladiator Rubicon in August of 2020. A couple things that I wanted. Since we love to explore logging roads, forest service roads, and anything off the beaten path I wanted a capable Jeep Platform. The midsize truck can fit in places that full size...
  6. GVWR

Yes, they all include an allowance in the ratings due to the fact that most idiot humans will load up to that rating (or above) then drive like a human. I am not a mechanical engineer, but a civil. And yes, we supplement safety margins for the unidentified exposure and liability it brings in our...
  7. GVWR

The GVWR on my 2021 EcoDiesel Rubicon is 6450 so that puts you 1,130 lbs. over. Nothing shocking that I have not seen before on other builds. "E" rated tires, improvements on springs, shocks, add airbags, steering, and sway bar will improve your driving dynamics. I believe the weak link is the...
  8. Diesel cooling options and ideas

I purchased the Insane Diesel oil Filter. I got the kit with the bypass on the filter housing. DO NOT USE THIS. The Gen 3 Engine filter housing and filter are different than the earlier version. The oil bypass is in the filter housing and the Insane Diesel housing is the old version. Different...
  9. Diesel cooling options and ideas

Turning the fan on early (before you get hot) does help, but the engine heat will still eventually overpower the cooling system. It just gives you a little more time until you derate.
  10. Are most Overlanding rigs overweight?

No problems. We have overlanded or vehicle camped for over 40 years together. I use photos to help identify to others what our build is. Being over the listed GVWR is a key for many overlanders. The gladiator platform is a very viable option for people who want to go where other’s cannot. It’s...
  11. Are most Overlanding rigs overweight?

Really? Are you referring to me as a poseur???
  12. Are most Overlanding rigs overweight?

I agree. One reason I wanted to build an overland vehicle was to put it on one of the most capable vehicles being built. Our last overland vehicle lacked power and gearing. The Jeep Gladiator EcoDiesel full filled what I was looking for. A larger full size truck was not in the picture even...
  13. Are most Overlanding rigs overweight?

Now if you really want to start thinking about weight? Think about un-sprung weight. It is still part of your GVWR. So bigger heavier tires mean you cannot carry that extra cooler in the back? Braces and gussets to the axles to make them stronger also means you now cannot haul your mountain...
  14. 2021 Gladiator Rubicon real life MPG

Here is an update on the mileage at around 22k miles. It is getting better!
  15. High mileage diesels?

I ordered and picked up my 2021 EcoDiesel Rubicon around Christmas time last year. I now have just under 23,000 miles. Leaking R/R axle seal around 4k miles, replaced by dealer. The engine developed a ticking sound that was diagnosed as the alternator clutch. It was replaced by the dealer...
  16. Eco diesel Suspension bottoming out on normal roads

This is the left front. I did mean the code numbers marked the springs. The adjustable shocks work wonders on the ride.
  17. Eco diesel Suspension bottoming out on normal roads

I installed as per the markings on each spring. No issues. With a winch and lights up front I did upgrade to the Fox Performance Elite Series 2.5 adjustable shocks. Now I can make it ride how I want. With a camper on the back it is nice to adjust the ride.
