Thank you for this. Did you weld the exterior vertical bar to the 90 degree angle steel piece or bolt it on? I see in your pic the 90 degree piece is on but the rack looks to be removed. My plan is to haul two 70 pound kayaks up there but I will only need them every so often when I need the bed...

Would you feel comfortable with this setup if you had another kayak that size up there? I have two kayaks that are 70-80 pounds each that would travel at highway speeds. They are 11 to 12 feet in length.
