Interesting! I would love a wireless controller. I wonder if it's an add-on I can buy?
They've had the ZXR 12,000 winch with wire rope for a LONG time. It was on sale for $269 on Black Friday. But the APEX version of the winches....that one has never been seen with wire rope in my local...
I love you guys, but this is laughable.
GM trucks have been pure trash since the GMT400 platform debuted and that was 38 model years ago now. It would take a reem of paper and a package of ink pens to list all the common problems with those trucks. Electrical issues galore, junk...
I went ahead and got one with synthetic rope for the $399 deal. I didn't realize until today that the APEX version can be bought with wire rope. When did they start doing that?? I got the last one available with the syn rope.
Thanks! That Hydro Blue diesel JT is still going down in southern Kentucky. Last I heard it was coming up on 90,000 miles. The second owners had an underhood fire and it sat at the dealership for 3 months. They decided to ditch it. So I guess it eventually got fixed and now another owner is...
The original Dakota trucks offered features the competitors didn't have. That was its calling card. V8 engines, slightly larger cabin, longer cargo beds, etc.
If this new one doesn't offer things the competitors don't have, it'll be DOA. The version they are selling overseas won't cut it...
If you use weight distribution/sway control as you are planning to do you will be totally fine. You will find that your exterior mirrors SUCK for towing. This is a major flaw in the JT design in my opinion. There are aftermarket options that clip onto the factory mirrors to extend your sight...
I went across I-74 toward Peoria on a VERY windy day (headed to Badlands Offroad Park in Attica, Indiana) pulling a 8.5x24' enclosed trailer fully loaded. I was using a weight distrubting/sway control hitch (which anybody should do with any 1/2 ton truck). Had the cruise set to 70 MPH. The...
What's the towing range on a JT with 50% of its rated weight behind it? 160 miles? 180 miles tops? So yes that is better than 80-100 miles.
I think where a gas truck shines is that with the trailer still attached you can pull through a gas station, fill it up in 5 minutes, and hit the road...
*Raises hand* I do! As soon as my 2020 Max Tow JT was out of break-in period it had 7k behind it. I bought a truck because I wanted a Jeep and needed a truck.
The difference between the JL and JT is that use case is totally different. JL has always had a 3,500 lb. tow rating (until the...
Well that's not exactly fair to say. The Lightning tows like a freight train. It honestly feels like the last HD diesel truck I had. So much power. And the storage onboard hauls great. Wife and I hauled a full bed load of equipment to Louisville and back, then down to Dale Hollow Lake area...
I'm catching the tail end of this thread, but I heard that the large fire at the aluminum supplier (same one that hurt Ford truck production) caused Jeep to do this steel "performance" hood on more of the vehicles they're building.
Yeah to be fair, that's the ONLY drawback to the truck. Everything else has been amazing with it. Tons of power. Totally linear throttle due to having no transmission to shift through. Quiet. Rides like a Cadillac, yet has 2,030 lbs. of payload capacity. Costs me about $14 to fully charge...
Well, 4.10 ratio upgrade was nicer on JL because those had 3.45 standard. But on JT 3.73 was standard, so upgrading to 4.10 was only giving a guy 150 RPM on the tachometer, which is indetectable.
The slightly higher capacity battery, fan, and alternator are things that 99.99% of people will...
Who knows, maybe with two or three model years remaining for JT now Jeep is going to go big and offer both Hemi engines to go with the P-star. That would be amazing IF and only if they make the 5.7L a relatively small upcharge. Like, let’s say you can option the 5.7L on any trim from Sport S...
Why doesn't JT get the full floating rear axle that JL Rubicon has?
Anyhow, back in 2020 I remember doing some videos on my Max Tow JT compared to a non-Max Tow JT and the differences were actually very few and minor.
With my 4,700 lb. enclosed trailer behind me in perfect weather conditions I see 0.7 mi/kWh which equates to around 80 miles of range. In terms of cost, that's the equivalent of a gas truck getting about 4 MPG. It's horrendous....and that's only 50% trailer capacity for the truck.
My Lightning is the best truck I've ever had.... until it's time to tow long distances with the camper. Towing range is the problem. Everywhere else the truck is amazing.
I don't think a 5.7 JT will happen because SAE J2807 prevented the 2.0T and I don't see how shoe-horning a V8 into that little engine bay could be better. But IF it happens I'll be first in line at the dealership.
