Update since I commented a while back: I ended up going with 4.88, and Iām very happy.
It seems like the original debate was 4.56 or 4.88 for 37s, and once everyone decided 4.88 was the answer, the debate shifted to 4.88 or 5.13. Now that more people are going with 5.13, thereās a subset of...

Wow! My Jeep hasnāt looked like that for a while. MSRP was $52,650, and my OTD price was $43,446.70.
Here is a recent shot in from of my momās barn.
ā94 Grand Cherokee - nothing special, but it was my first Jeep and a huge upgrade from the champagne colored Saturn SC2 with a a leaky sunroof and pop up headlights and the royal blue Pontiac Sunbird with matching blue upholstery
ā05 TJ - I bought it in the fall of ā06 with 8000 miles on it. It...
I nearly forgot about this thread! Here is the list of mods from the original post with an update on where I am:
I finally got around to installing 4.88 gears last week, and the ride quality is a night and day difference.
I also had the pleasure of replacing my windshield at 20,000 miles...
This is my fourth Jeep, so I have learned a lot from previous mistakes. No regrettable mods yet on my JT.
On the TJ: tube steps and tube bumpers. Oof. They were replaced in less than a year. Expensive mistake.
On the first JKU: Nothing that I can really recall. I only owned it for a little...
I bought an Overland on April 10 and installed a 3.5ā lift and 37ā tires 1400 miles later. I finally regeared to 4.88 yesterday at 20,000 miles, and Iām kicking myself for not doing it months ago. It doesnāt feel like the same Jeep anymore. The 3.73 gears were barely drivable, but the Jeep...
I dropped my Overland (3.73 gears) off at the shop this morning to get 4.88s installed. I suffered long enough with stock gears and 37s. I picked it up about an hour ago, and itās such a night and day difference. I canāt wait to drive it for a couple hundred miles and see how it affects my mileage.
I played with the site for what seems like HOURS. This is what I ended up choosing. "Cream" is the factor color match for Gladiators, according to the Katzkin rep I talked to. I like this a lot.
I'm going with Katzkin over the Ruff Tuff and looking for the best color option for my Gobi with body colored fenders and top. I like the dark saddle interior, and it looks like the Mahogany on the Katzkin site is a pretty close match. Any thoughts?
