At about 930 this morning the police called me to let me know that my vehicle was involved in an accident in our parking garage at work. I assumed someone just bumped into me parking but walked out to find this (and yes, I normally park straight):
Cadillac was totaled and was towed away
I have to say I had mixed feelings reading this thread. On one hand, life is too short to get worked up about something easy to solve. $30 is family dinner at McDonalds and the time the OP spent on this thread would have covered installation.
On the other hand, businesses have to be held...
The inconvenience of taking a minute to load a CD to rip is nothing compared to the benefit of having a huge library available right on the touchscreen.
Not only that, but the sound quality is much better. Sirius is poor quality, streaming has been poor to mediocre until recently when they...
Yeah I can’t believe no one makes a steel cover for the stock bumper. But I guess it only works well if you remote mount the box under the hood and not enough people do that?
The winch is a smittybuilt H2O 12k# with a warn mounting plate. I built the plate to where I can still barely reach under to move the lever, but if I am doing something where I might use it I switch the five factory bolts out for two thumbscrew M8 bolts.
I was also concerned like you about...
I fabricated one a couple of months ago. I have synthetic and didn’t like it exposed all the time. I added some weatherstripping under the plate to keep crap from the road from getting underneath it.
I didn’t like the bags but I never found a steel cover made for the factory steel bumper???
Thanks! I don’t have a post yet on the canopy… it was just supposed to be a mock up to see if I like it but I liked it so much I haven’t followed through on the real project. The canopy pictured is just a brown cloth tarp over a 2x4 frame. I’ll take more pictures tomorrow since I’m using it...
I started with the factory tonneau cover. It kept the snow out of the bed. My wife said she would go camping if we were off the ground. So I welded together a half rack to accommodate a Christmas present RTT.
then I had to haul some lumber with rack on, so I fabricated a rack to mount off the...
So let me see if I have this correct. You can remote mount the winch controller or add a bunch of third party stuff if you don’t remote mount. In either case there is not a constant “hot” running from battery to winch that could be grounded in the event of collision. Correct?
Exactly! I wasn’t going to the trouble of welding a frame until I decided if I like the looks of it or not.
my plan is to build a frame where the top opens like a hatch with some struts to hold it open to make it useful fo hauling stuff, and also add a couple supports to the back while open to...
