  1. (Poll) what's better Jeep Wrangler OR Jeep gladiator and why.

Gladiator: carry kayaks, dirt, trash, etc, more easily. Wrangler: carry dogs more easily. One thing I didn't consider when I bought my Gladiator was how impossible it was to carry my larger dogs in it. At the time I still had an Accord and they took up the backseat a lot easier than in the...
  2. Charging and testing the Auxiliary Battery

Ok, I have read through what seems like a dozen threads on ESS issues and battery replacement. I had the "Service ESS" warning and when I checked JSCAN, I had code B2199-16 (battery voltage - circuit voltage below threshold / stored - Body Controller) and P00FD (battery ""b"" state of charge...
  3. Are the batteries really isolated during ESS stops?

This makes sense to me from an empirical standpoint - when my ESS decided to quit, the last two starts were sluggish compared to normal. It was almost like a drained battery, but not as bad. The initial startup before was fine though, and every start up since has been fine. I assume that's...
  4. Are the batteries really isolated during ESS stops?

I finally got to experience the "Service ESS" warning light last weekend. The last two ESS events prior to the warning, the engine did not start "immediately" and the slight delay was enough to give kind of a clunk/lurch... nothing to make your hair stand up, but it didn't sound exactly like it...
  5. 2026 Exterior Colors (per JL)

Whoa, when did that happen? Every time I see a Bikini JL I mention to my wife how tempted I'd be to trade if they put it on the JT. Still loving the Gator but that color is really pretty and would encourage me to wash the Jeep occasionally.
  6. Gladiator Forum

I hope I don't jinx myself, but my gladiator is still running fine. I've paid it off, and I've pretty much bought all I want to buy for it. Not a lot to research at the moment for me at least. I would believe sales are down, but I do see more gladiators in the wild as time goes by. When I...
  7. Stinging article on Stellantis on CNN. Not looking good.

The article I read last week (which lead me to come back here today to see if anyone was talking about it) mentioned layoffs at the Ohio assembly plant and reduced shifts to make Gladiators. It said the announcement came after the election, and was news to me but I don't come here as much as I...
  8. We need some side profile photos of the SD1

Sorry I haven't had time to go somewhere glamorous so the drive way is all I've got for now!
  9. What in this Jeep is spying on us?

But did you get the powertrain malfunction light checked?
  10. Jeep dealership won't check mechanical damage until finished with body work

The impact was directly on the wheel as I was turning. They ended up replacing the frame in addition to the wheel, front axle assembly, lower control arm, and I *think* the knuckle on the wheel that took the hit. There were body mounts replaced and they had to fix the bumper and fog lights...
  11. No Jeep parts or trading for me - poor kitty...

Glad they are doing ok! My cat was picky with drinking water - mostly wanted to drink whatever you were drinking instead, or out of the sink when you were using it. The vet suggested a water fountain since they can hear the moving water. It worked pretty well as long as you didn't let the...
  12. Jurassic Jeeps

I like it, but my favorite are still the old Ford Explorers that were "on rails" in the first film. Ketchup & mustard spilled on a lime green background is a fair appraisal, but that's classic '93 aesthetics for you.
  13. Reviews of SD1 Tube door

I got the rear doors first over the weekend and installed them. The front doors should get here today and I'll take some pictures after I get them installed too. They look great. I've already gotten a compliment from a stranger when I was getting groceries. The kids love them too (though I'm...
  14. Kinetic recovery strap

So are ARB's flat straps junk? Everyone seems to think they're great.
  15. Kinetic recovery strap

Guys, not trying to start a fight, but what makes it kinetic is the material, not the weave. Flat nylon straps stretch - ARB's strap stretches and it's flat. FWIW there are video reviews on Amazon, it appears to stretch. I'm not really in a position to test it myself though.
  16. Kinetic recovery strap

I have not had the need to try it out. I should've sprung for a polyester tow strap, as I would've had more uses for that. I haven't gotten stuck yet, but I have had to stop and turn around because of trees. Tress that I could've pulled out of the way if I had a solid strap - I didn't want...
  17. 4xe Gladiator Hybrid (PHEV) Confirmed by Jeep CEO for 2025! ⚡️

Glad to see they're going to offer it. I am still the better part of a year from paying off my 2020 and it's only got 26k miles so I shouldn't be needing a new vehicle for a long time (knocks on wood). There are trade offs with most trim/engine choices, not really any different with a 4xE. I...
  18. The Origin of “Ducking”

I finally got ducked for the first time on Sunday... a mere 1,438 days after taking it home! It only took driving to a large shopping center doorless in the rain for someone to take pity on me.
  19. We are trying to make the most user-friendly JT tube door…

Just about every door can pinch the entire hand off a small child, yet they still exist. I don't think the shape of the bars is particularly dangerous and any child in a moving vehicle should be in a car seat. For what it's worth, while I like the MOPAR horizontal design better, this is a...
  20. Basic recovery gear question

Probably very low on the scale of things that could go wrong, that is for sure!
