I feel like this is a question for your insurance haha. "Best off" depends on your deductible. As far as right now, I would feel safe running a couple strands of duct tape across the full pane just incase the vibrations from diving cause more damage.

It's more of an exit hole while driving, the air will pull into the front of the grille and out the sides. Probably doesn't help much with heat but helps prevent hood flutter on the highway. Try a light maybe?
