Lithium mining is incredibly destructive to the environment. It must be strip mined. And you are conveniently ignoring all the other rare earth elements like samarium, yttrium, neodymium, scandium, etc. ALL of which are strip mined, and then need extensive processing to be used, all of which...
I never said anything remotely like that. I merely stated a fact. I have repeatedly said that for an environment like yours, an EV makes perfect sense.
Not here. I currently have a foot and a half of snow on the ground outside.
EV's don't do well in the cold. That's a fact. If I want to...
I live right downtown Carson City. We average 6 power outages per year. Shortest was a few minutes, the longest was a day and a half. I am installing a 22kw Generac generator right now, but like I said, I want solar with battery backup as well. How many watts of installed solar do you have?
Yeah, NV Energy has outage issues, but my electrical bill averages out at 300 per month too. Summer is about 100 more per month depending on how much we run the AC. The nights get cool so it only really gets run during the day.
Nowhere near half. Single family residences are the majority of where the systems can be installed, and even there government regulations can get in the way.
That's a good setup. And nice being able to keep it outside. Wouldn't be possible here where I live. Too much snow so would need to build a dedicated structure away from the garage to get a similar setup. Picture a car port with sides.
And I don't recall anyone claiming solar is a scam...
Nope. Makes no sense at all. A good friend of mine, a retired professor, said that all of the " green" laws were designed to turn the middle class back into Serfs.
There's a lot of truth in that.
And a whole lot fewer people. Like billions. And I like being able to do my everyday humdrum things.
Things that I wouldn't if we returned back to even an 1880's level of tech.
Much less caveman times.
I disagree. If renewable energy systems worked as advertised people would be buying them left and right. They aren't buying because the systems aren't very good. Part of that problem is the government has been subsidizing them for so long that there is no punishment for failure.
The...
Agreed. But I seem to remember they have a ton of oil in the North Sea.
Why aren't they using that instead? I think that 80% of their production goes to the EU. Instead of building out "renewables" of dubious value they could exploit the oil they already have.
But government regulations...
And the UK has some of the highest electrical costs in the world. And they too are having people freeze to death in the winter. 4950 I belive is the most recently reported number of "excess deaths" due to freezing to death thanks to the high cost of heating the homes.
If renewables made...
Wiki is wrong. The only part of Ivanpah that is running is the nat gas side. And that has been for at least two years now. Feel free to look at aerial photos and you can see the heliostats are falling apart. Dozens are shattered on the ground. The similar system outside of Tonopah IS...
Actually, they are accurate, and that points out another issue, most people have very little science knowledge. Myself included, so I researched the heck out of green energy systems because I wanted to use them. The research I did was very thorough and disappointing.
I discovered that...
