  1. Which Aux switch set to buy?

@wcberry Agreed with this approach. On all 3 of my current Jeeps, I essentially did this BUT for the "hard wire" I just used a straightened coat hanger with a hook bent in the end like a fish tape. Poke the straight end through the grommet and tape your wires to the hook.
  2. Which Aux switch set to buy?

@Tacklewasher I know you said you want to control through the Uconnect. I'm not sure why that is because you aren't really controlling anything other than whether the switch works with the Ignition On or Off. How about a different option that sacrifices that feature but gives you several...
  3. Rack options

@Judd You have probably already considered this, but the real problem with all of the roof racks you've linked to is that they mount to the gutter, which is not a real load bearing place to attach to. I realize that you say the rack will only hold a solar panel, but load is load and stress on...
  4. Now what

Yeah, the 8 speed is a brilliant add to the Jeep power train. I wish I had it in both my 2016 JKUR and my 2018 JKUR!!
  5. Now what

I absolutely agree. I just assumed by the OP's question that he might not be experienced enough to piece out a Franken-suspension by doing this. A lot of the parts places aren't all that forthright with telling you that you can just buy portions of a suppliers "full kit". Icon just sort of...
  6. Now what

Again, this is a preference thing. The weight really doesn't have anything to do with the need to re-gear. It has more to do with the change in the tire size because, once you update the Jeep's computer to the new tire diameter, it changes the shift points of the transmission and such. If you...
  7. Now what

I'm sure others will tell you things perhaps more definitively but you really don't have to change anything to put 37's on the Rubicon other than a lift. In my last post where I showed the pic right after the lift was installed, you can see that with a 2.5" lift and the Rubicon's highline...
  8. Now what

And it was literally, zero hassle. Since I have built out many Jeeps, I already knew what I wanted to do with the Gladiator build. I wanted onboard water, solar, a kitchen, etc. and so before I put in my suspension, I built the whole thing out. Check out the squat on the stock Rubicon...
  9. Goose Gear Rear Seat delete - Carpet/Rubber Pattern

Agreed. Baltic birch is the shizzy!!!
  10. Now what

Everyone will say go with this lift or that lift "because it is awesome". Meh. Once you start talking quality lifts (AEV, Clayton, Metalcloak, et al) you are really not talking about sweeping differences in performance, etc., rather you are hearing what comes down to brand loyalty. Personally...
  11. O

Yeah, my shipmates made a contest of it. The worst one won and there was no bad mouthing the winner for his choices!! LOL!!!
  12. O

When I was in the Navy, my buddies would go out on port calls and go "Gutter Sluttin'". She would have been a prime target!!
  13. Anybody got a Wrangler?

I currently have 2 JKUR's and a JTR. Far and away I think the JTR rides better. FWIW, the shorter your wheelbase is, the less stable/bumpy/wobbly the ride is going to be. Not saying "Don't buy a Wrangler", just that the ride of the 2 door Wrangler won't be as nice as the ride of a 4 door...
  14. O

The Texaco I worked at in high school had an account with the assisted living home behind the station. My scenery wasn't as nice... 😢 😢 😢 😢
  15. FULL DISCLOSURE: I did something stupid and dodged the bullet

I’m going to cut you some slack and be done with you. Once again I am playing chess with a pigeon…
  16. FULL DISCLOSURE: I did something stupid and dodged the bullet

Yes I would. They made an honest mistake (enabled by me not verifying the work) and then made it right without me having to fight for them to make it right. Not to mention, they fixed it 10 months after the fact. Imagine another scenario, you go to Kroger to buy groceries. The guy bagging...
  17. FULL DISCLOSURE: I did something stupid and dodged the bullet

You seem a bit delusional about all of this... In my OP, I talked about using DT for several years to put tires on 3 different vehicles. In other words: Then I relayed a specific mistake that was made by them (and me) in not installing the spare tire but when the mistake was brought to their...
  18. FULL DISCLOSURE: I did something stupid and dodged the bullet

Well I will agree to disagree. I feel sorry for your inability to trust and see the good in the actions of others.
  19. FULL DISCLOSURE: I did something stupid and dodged the bullet

WOW!!! I'd hate to ever make a mistake around you... I'm not trying to make it "feel good FOR (ME)". I am owning my part of the error and when that error was brought to the attention of the service provider they also immediately corrected the error without "(ME having) to force them to 'make...
