  1. Bulletpoint MagSafe phone mount, will it work on the JT?

Ah, that actually explains a lot. I have a Carlinkit wireless adapter in my car that was working great, then just stopped reliably connecting. I wrote it off as cheap junk from Asia. HB
  2. In Praise of Gladiator Comfort

My Glad is my 6th or 7th truck. Other than a brief visit from the Death Wobble (defective steering damper) the ā€œrideā€ both in comfort and handling perspectives has been fine, and as good as the other truck predecessors. I just spent four hours this afternoon on errands that included several...
  3. Bulletpoint MagSafe phone mount, will it work on the JT?

Thanks everybody. Shift, Carplay is wired through the USB port along with the charging circuit. I’ve only used the MagSafe for charging, both my watch and phone. I don’t really know enough about the technology but it struck me that unless the Magsafe connection also handled data like USB...
  4. Gladiators Snow Wheeling - Post Your Pics!

I will repost my picture from last year. And I will add, we just had our first (and hopefully last) snow storm of a whopping 2ā€, living on the coast has its advantages. And again I will state for the record, ā€œThat’s it, Iā€˜m done with winter, can we go boating soon?ā€. HB
  5. Bulletpoint MagSafe phone mount, will it work on the JT?

I’m thinking of upgrading my phone mount from the bulletpoint clamp mount to their charging MagSafe mounts. Their literature notes that some vehicle USB ports don’t support the standard that makes MagSafe charging work, and they put it off on the buyer to find out. I tried my dealership and...
  6. Scratched Hard Top

Long time boat ownerā€˜s perspective. Correct the exposed plastic won’t rust. However the white plastic could very likely degrade from UV & moisture exposure. Regardless of the aesthetic, I would (and as a hardtop owner will, if need be) seal any scratches that expose the white base plastic...
  7. My DIY bed cap

Yup, been there done that, and had to replace the couch. He is a good looking boy though. Are you fostering him, or is he now home? Either way, good luck to you on that front. it could be a challenge. We did it many years ago with a greyhound. It was a boat load of work, but well worth it...
  8. My DIY bed cap

It looks like aluminum, what are you using for a welding setup? That’s a lot of real estate to TIG.
  9. Tazer update w/o a computer?

The Tazer updating process is web based. There is no local operating system app involved. The only difference between using a Tazer on a Mac and a PC is in the user interface appearance. So if you have a newer iPad with a USB-C port, all you should need is a cable that matches the Tazer’s port...
  10. New Katzkin Tangerine Leather Interior

Very nice. Do the existing covers just unzip like it looks like they do?
  11. Woodworking suggestions needed

I ran into the same thing a few years ago. Our home is on a property that at one time was a cherry orchard and we have a number of now very large and semi wild cherry trees. When we bought the property we had a number cut down to clear things out. I wanted to get them rough sawn into blanks...
  12. Woodworking suggestions needed

The grate tables are teak. The solid tables were mahogany and walnut, and mahogany and holly. All of the tables were solid wood, no veneers. The grates were all half lap cut joints and tenoned into mortises on the frame. I duplicated the construction technique from wooden sailing ships. I...
  13. SNOW & LED HEADLIGHT issues

That on your jeep, or another vehicle?
  14. SNOW & LED HEADLIGHT issues

The factory LEDs on my wife’s Audi, my Porsche and our Gladiator don’t retain snow. If you convert a HID headlight to LED snow is going to accumulate because the original bulbs generate enough heat to take care of any weather related issues.
  15. Woodworking suggestions needed

Some tables for boats I’ve made over the years.
  16. OBDII Security Gateway

Damn, i never even thought of that. I am still getting used to this it’s ok to take the doors and roof off thing.
  17. Engine cover - not on all vehicles ?‍ā™€ļø so the dealer tells me , is this posibly true

My built for me 22 Sport S put together in June 22 does not have one either. I discovered it in the identical way as the OP, doing a side by side comparison with a JL. My dealer was either a little more diplomatic, or may have gotten the straight story. At the next service I mentioned it...
  18. Lucas pure synthetic oil additive

Well said, I spent forty five years in commercial transportation, many in heavy vehicle design and maintenance & repair. Back then there was a valid place for stuff like this, no longer because engines are being designed for use with lower viscosity lubricants for a number of reasons...
  19. Max Bed Weight

A pallet of pellets is too much for the glad. That said, I've worked out a deal with my supplier who lets me do two runs and his yard crew hand loads the truck for me. They just set my pallet down out of the way in between trips. It does mean two trips on the same day, but I get the ton price...
  20. OBDII Security Gateway

Stop trying to do this while looking at it. Do it by feel and be patient. If you have the extension cable coming, wait for that. This way you can see what the plugs look like and better visualize what you need to do. Also get something to kneel on, open the drivers door and you can kneel...
