It's all metrics. The less work we do the more profit we make. At lest short term as long the newest leaders are running it and getting ready to jump off at the right time. We're dumb enough we keep buying them and they keep cutting back.
I hit a deer in my TJ at ~40mph with the smittybilt XRC bumper. No damage at all, just some hair stuck in the cable. I mounted the rugged ridge barricade trail force HD bumper on the JT. Both are 3/16" steel.
It actually makes sense. Hire a six sigma black belt to work on metrics for the short term gain.
Whats your feel on the reverse gearing in the 6mt between the JL and JT?
I replaced mine with the centerforce clutch and high inertia flywheel and have been happy since. It's a cute design of the original clutch. I mean a twin disc should be stronger.... Is it the same clutch that's used in the JKs? Likewise for the MT? If so how wasn't this an issue before...
Seems like jeep doesn't want to put MT into their vehicles anymore. I had an 87 YJ and 03 Rubicon, both 5spd and inline 6 (4.2 and 4.0), never any clutch problems and the gearing of both was what you expect for a vehicle driven off road and on road. Not speed demons, but very capable.
The high reverse gear is dangerous. My 5spd 03 rubicon has a good transmission. The 6spd in the JT sucks even with a new aftermarket clutch, better than stock but not as good as good as the TJ. I guess a hemi is somewhere in the future or a battery pack.
It was sarcasm. You go to South America and you see all these midsize trucks with turbo diesel motors and manual transmissions, but can't even order that combo from the manufacturer here. How about a Chevy Colorado with a manual and diesel? If/when it's released here the only options will be...
I agree, from the bean counters point of view a small market share of manuals isn't enough to do anything but the minimum and lawyer up at first sign of a lawsuit. I had the fantasy of a company standing behind it's product and fixing it. Oh well soon we'll just be riding the autonomous driven...
