You are exactly right. I had my fingers crossed. Yes, he said if it hadn't spread to the edge he wouldn't of had a problem doing the repair and it would have been easily repairable. They do have a warranty on their work. I have a copy with my paperwork from last year's repair. Time will tell...
After my appointment today I contacted my insurance company which redirected me to safelite. A replacement for me (non oem) is $469.00 installed. Lower than my deductible. This is my second rock hit in a year. Gonna leave it for now and live with it. Might replace it later on if this new one...
As I feared, Safelite said since the crack runs to the edge of the glass, it is something they can't repair. Only option is replacement. He did say if the crack hadn't run to the edge, he could have done the repair and would have had no concern with it.
A dollar will cover this however, it goes to the very bottom edge of the glass. Biggest question I guess is will a repair suffice. I'll find out Friday.
Have an appointment with Safelite on Friday to come to the house. Hoping they can do something with it being on the edge of the glass. Submitted some photos. Now to hurry up and wait.
Hadn't noticed the two line cracks until after I posted this. See now it's spread to the edge.
The line under the wiper is just glare from the canopy @ Sheetz. No damage there.
I was afraid I wouldn't be able to do a simple repair. Not really wanting to have to wait on a replacement or have...
I haven't found any in black, trust me, looked thru many sites trying to find some. Wound up using some flat black spray paint I had laying around on them. As much as the doors stay off, I figured touch ups every so often wouldn't be too bad. They've actually held up well and haven't had to...
Had a chip repaired last August. Cleaning the windshield this morning and found a chip I had no idea was there. I don't remember anything hitting it recently. Since I retired last year it hasn't been driven that much.
Has anyone had success with the Rain-X windshield repair kit or similar kits...
I can imagine it could be difficult in some areas of the country. I'm glad I have the black plastic fenders. Don't have to find color match in the off case I damage a fender. I have seen some members on this forum looking to sell or trade on occasion. I hope op find a viable solution for himself.
That is the transmission release for automatics. It's used in case you are stuck in gear and need it in a neutral gear. I believe it's used for towing or flat towing.
