Seems some folks mix up engine and motor as well along with spelling errors, mostly with synonyms.
Yea people use them interchangeably and I’m not normally one to get nit picky about which is which, unless I’m corrected and the correction is wrong lol. Then I get nit picky about calling one...
they are not only for safety issues, just more commonly for safety issues as they affect a greater population size. They are for issues with a high enough percentage of complaints. Sometimes a full issue isn’t issued but they will make a running change and change everything past a certain...
We have had to issue recalls for far less than this before.
This is a quality issue, I agree it isn’t a safety issue, but as someone else said, rust migrates once it begins. It’s like cancer, it’ll migrate into the threads and could cause issues down the road. Yea it could be fixed so it...
It is very likely whoever spec'ed the screw did not specify to re-passivate it. And being that it is in an obscure place, and the mojave just came out, it is possible nobody has seen it yet. And nobody has complained about it yet no warranty claims.
It doesn't keep me up at night. I just know from projects I've worked on that Stellantis has complained about smaller issues. If Fox can't select the proper material to prevent rust then do I really want Fox shocks?
Its more of the principle of it that it should be designed properly with the...
I'll let you know on Saturday after my appointment with the dealer.
Surface rust is one thing, but this is enough rust that the proper sized hex key probably won't fit.
Provide them the printed out specification for salt spray testing on exterior components and the pass fail criteria lol.
Which specifically says rust is a failure.
It isn't the bracket. I'll have to crawl under and see if I can get a picture when I get home. It is the shock reservoir itself, which would fall on Fox as the responsible party here. It is not the bracket, but the cap at the back of the reservoir which they most likely use to charge the shocks...
Also, let me just say that I work for a supplier to Stellantis as a mechanical engineer. I refuse to accept anything but a replacement on a part that clearly did not pass the strict environmental validation requirements. Yes, it may be just a screw on the end cap of the shock, it may cause...
It is the one that is in the center of the black end-cap on the reservoir itself, you can't really see it without taking the skid plate off. Yes, pictures would be better, but I was an idiot and didn't take the picture lol. This picture gives the best idea of where I am referring to without...
While swapping out my plastic bumper on my Mojave I noticed the end cap screws on the fox remote reservoirs were completely rusted. My Gladiator only has 850 miles on it. These definitely did not pass the FCA/Stellantis salt spray test requirements. I will be taking it to the dealer this weekend...
Typically caster is used in alignments since they can align using all 4 wheels. Pinion angle is fixed relative to caster angle and caster adjustment affects pinion angle. So by setting one you set the other. Most alignment shops (at least off-road shops I have worked with) will set the caster...
Ok, so let me preface by saying that I work as a mechanical engineer for a major supplier to FCA (now Stellantis).
There are a few reasons the factory isolators are rubber. And it isn’t because they soak up the bumps. It’s for noise and vibration, as well as cost.
Rubber isolators, bushings, etc...
