Ok, Iām going for a powered Kicker HS8 to complement the premium sub. Would like to tie the speaker signal wire into the stock sub and keep the stock sub running too.
Any wiring advice or additional pictures would be appreciated. New sub on order from Crutchfield.
Work and fit fine on the back half between the hardtop and concrete. I just support the front half with a sturdy box for balance and blanket for protection.
Spidertrax spacers should solve it for around $250. I put 1.5ā on the JK, no more rub, handles better IMO and looks better with the stance.
Iām waiting to wear out my Gladiator tires before upgrading to larger, so havenāt done it on the JT.
Here is a picture on the JK:
āI DO NOT RECOMMEND THE ARB SNORKELā
You have certainly convinced most of us to heed your words of wisdom. I did enjoyed reading your write up though.
Not hard at all, took maybe 30 minutes for both sides. For mine, it was a two step process: One red decal first, then a black decal on top. Some dawn 30% and water 70% mix, then align correctly and squeegee the remaining water out. Put in the sun to dry or hair dryer lightly.
Good quality...
Finally got naked for the first time last week.
Alumni visit at Clemson University.
Wife took the wheel for a while.
Throw back photo opportunity.
Then installed the Metra JP-1014 6.5ā speaker pods and some Focal RCX 165 speakers in the dash knees. Took me 6 months to build up the...
Thanks much to you and midironman for all your help!!
Iām leaning more and more toward the 6.5ā SSV Works mod for the soundbar. I was planning to do this conversion when the SSV adapters came out earlier this year, but was skeptical if the money spent would be a real game changer for the...
For me Infinity has nice highs like a tweeter, JLās have nice mids. Everyone hears the music/sound differently because thatās how our ears are wired. Some spend $$$$ and others spend $. What I like for speakers, you might not like and vice versa. Iād suggest trying a couple different brands...
I donāt have Kenwoodās. My swaps are as followings:
Infinity 3022 3.5ā top dash
Focal RCX-165 6.5ā dash knees
JL Audio C2-350x 3.5ā in the SB
Everything else remains stock 8.4 premium at this time.
I took another picture for you to see the exact placement clockwise of mine. I was sitting in the rear seat on the drivers side when taking the picture just looking up. The JL Audio letters are closest to the foam insert. I hope that helps with the correct orientation.
Update: Tried the 4ā Kicker 46CSC44 in the soundbar today and they fit fine. However, noticed no significant improvement over stock and maybe less impressive than stock. So Iāll be returning those speakers,
Now looking at a potential subwoofer swap from 8ā to 10ā. Might do the SSV 6.5ā...
No, it didnāt need it. I did add bass blockers to the Infinity 3.5ā in the dash, but they had a popping sound. I took the blockers back off and no popping. Been running without base blockers since December last year with no problems.
Today, Iām going to try (if they fit magnet wise) adding 4ā...
Itās been a while and going off memory, but I think you get the wire plug hidden into the small opening on one side. Then put the speaker in and finagle with a little twist or orientation. They should fit, but might have to play with it some. Maybe my picture will help. Hope you get them to work.
I just couldnāt be happier with the night and day difference. Finally added the Metra JP-1014 6.5ā pods and Focal RCX-165 6.5ā speakers in the dash knees. Yes, it was a bunch of work disassembling the dash, but so worth it. I also added Hushmat & polyfill inside the Pods. It sounds so much...
The JL Audio C2 350X fit mine and flush. Itās tight for sure, but was able to get them in. They sound great and was a big improvement over stock IMO.
I just read a bunch of reviews and narrowed it down to these 2 speakers that didnāt break the bank. My plan was to just put a pair in the dash and ship the other or both back if I didnāt like them. I liked them both over stock (big difference), but liked the highs of the Infinity in the dash...
I have the 8.4 Alpine premium and like many was disappointed with the sound. I Installed 3.5ā JL Audio 350x In the soundbar and 3.5ā Infinity 3022 in the top dash. Huge improvement over stock speakers and less that $200 total for much better sound IMO. I was going to do more speaker replacements...
There is another older post on this ESS with some good info if you havenāt seen it yet.
