Well there's a hood we haven't seen yet...
Bed to cab transition is unlike any of the speculations I've seen so far. Now I'm really curious to see how the flares are done...
Seems to confirm that the JT will have the fender vents like the JL.
The JK's brakes and rear suspension are some of the known/claimed limiting factors in its relatively low payload and towing rating. The JT will have a rear suspension design that's basically identical to the Ram's (whereas the JL's rear suspension is like the JK's), and it'll come with rear...
Well there's definitive proof that there's a 'mystery' housing on the RH side of the axle housing. Are we going back to the days of an axle disconnect??
The front axle is fitted with CV-jointed axle shafts, which someone in another thread had said was specific to the Selec-Trac full-time 4WD...
My guess is some kind of adjustable rail-based tie-down system in the cargo area. Seems odd to do something like that in a vehicle like the Wrangler though. Based on the name, it sounds more like an option I'd expect to see on the JT, not the JL.
Yeah, sounds like it's going to be Dozen...
Haha, yeah, I made almost the same rant in that thread back in April. :D I hadn't seen some of the more recently replies in it though. The link in your last post in that thread is a good read regarding US vs UK (or AUS) towing ratings, thanks for sharing it.
I still find it bothersome that my...
...which is really aggravating. This is more a rhetorical question as I don't expect you to know the specifics, but it'd be nice to know *what* about the frame and suspension is the issue? The Cherokee XJ, which was a unibody design, smaller overall, with far less power and arguably weaker in...
It's a midsize truck, not a full size, so it'll have a 5' short box just like the standard bed on every other midsize crew cab truck on the market (ie: Toyota Tacoma, Chevy Colorado, etc). I figure the JT will be a low volume model compared to the Tacoma and Colorado, with little to no...
You ARE looking at the truck... they're using the camo to hide the separation between the cab and the bed. It's not a Gladiator type design where the bed is part of the body.
Other than the totally vertical gap between the bed and the cab, the JT should look a LOT like the JK-based AEV...
I agree. While the mirrors on the JT do appear to be higher on the side by side photos, I'd be really surprised if Jeep went to the expense of having different doors (and/or front fenders) for the trucks. I think they'd want to have as much interchangeability of body parts as possible. If...
The "Articulink" suspension on the Ram is basically just a long radius arm design, not a traditional 4-link like the current JK's front suspension.
edit: based on all the current spy photos, I don't believe at all that the JL might have the Articulink front suspension.
Looks pretty close to the AEV Double Cab Brute dimensionally. No big surprise on the rear overhang - no other way to really do it unless you have a super-duper long wheelbase...
Does it look to anyone else like this mule is running an inverted-T steering linkage (similar to the Ram 2500's) instead of a crossover design like the JK's?
The overhang doesn't look that much more/different than a Tacoma.
edit: Also note the rear swaybar mounted on the axle instead of the...
The XJ was rated for 5,000lbs towing and it was only putting out 190hp / 235 lb-ft with the 4.0L I6. The Pentastar puts out 285hp / 260 lb-ft. With a full frame, heavier duty axles and powertrain, plus longer wheelbase and bigger brakes, it still baffles me as to why the JKU is only rated at...
Keep in mind that the prototype doesn't have any flares on the bed, which I would guarantee the production model will have. If you pull the flares off the back of a JK even the stock tire stick out from the body - same thing here.
