  1. Starting a 6.4 Hemi swap

Just a thought. Make up a mount that holds the spare above the bed and below the rack, horizontally. That would keep the bed open for storage and keep the weight above or slight in front of the rear axle. Three ways of going about it that come to mind. First would be a post that mounts to...
  2. What brand of torque wrenches do you all like?

I picked up an Icon 1/2" a couple years back for a BMW head job, primarily for the torque to angle function. My old click type wrenches stay in the drawer now. It sets quickly, is plenty loud, and the LEDs got from red-yellow-green as you get close to the final torque.
  3. Vibration after gear install

A high frequency buzz is going to be the driveshaft related. Maybe it isn't fully seated on the pinion flange? The driveshaft is turning more than a bit faster now. Assuming you were coming from 4:10's, your driveshaft is spinning 25% faster. Ever take it up to 90mph before the gear swap...
  4. Ebc yellow vs hawk lts

I've had good results with Hawk LTS pads, first in my old Toyota Land Cruisers and now in my JLUR. Installed pads all around along with Raybestos coated rotors. Far more aggressive initial bite but not obnoxiously so. Tend to increase bite with heat. I expect them to be dustier than the...
  5. Is the payload under rated

This is yet another example of the gov messing things up. What you state is exactly what payload should be. That yellow sticker in the door jam doesn't necessarily agree. I went through this once upon a time setting up a Durango to tow at its max capacity. In no way, shape or form could I...
  6. 2025 gladiator, brakes out

Unless the parking brake froze up too.
  7. Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT issues

@CFIS , curious how many miles you had on the original set of tires?
  8. 101A3 MILITARY TRAILER Value

The fact that it has a title is worth something IMO. Like everything else, the prices only seem to be going up.
  9. Hauling some Anthracite Coal this morning!

Depends on your definition of "modern". I'm running a coal boiler made in the '50s. They still sell it (EFM), so I guess you could say its modern? My place is an old stone farmhouse, 18" thick walls, zero insulation in the walls. I need cheap btu's :CWL:
  10. Hauling some Anthracite Coal this morning!

If I had NG I would use it. Considering PA is the third highest producer of NG is the USA, it is a rather sad situation.
  11. Hauling some Anthracite Coal this morning!

Quite a bit more out west. I'm just south of the coal seams, can still get it for $200/ton. Go through 8 tons a year, four trips in total. First year towing with my Jeep, it is handling it great. Cost is half that of heating oil, 1/3 that of propane. Quite a bit more work of course.
  12. Hauling some Anthracite Coal this morning!

Nice to see another PA coal burner. I've hauled two loads home so far this year.
  13. Fender Flare + Wheel Combo for Full Tire Coverage in PA

@Schaft, they changed the law last year, you can run without doors in PA now. @Chasm, I run the factory steps on my Rubicon for that exact reason. Swap them for the rock rails when I go to the offroad park. The steps do a great job keep the muck off of the side of the Jeep. To the original...
  14. Question: Aluminum Boat Trailer (4500 lbs loaded) Can’t Take Weight Distribution Hitch (WDH)

Airbags are cheap insurance for the 8hr tow. Maybe you don't need them, you're out $150. If you do, that is going to be a miserable drive home.
  15. Rear track bar relocation bracket Skyjacker

Can't speak to the JT part but I did recently install the JL drop bracket on my JLUR. The bracket is a quality piece, every bit as solid as the various metalcloak drop brackets I have installed.
  16. Time for new shocks.

I just replaced the Fox shocks with a set of Rancho RS7MT. Really happy with them, work as well as the Fox shocks ever did, and the price is great. Rock auto has them in stock FWIW.
  17. Jeeps during the AMC years.........

My first car was a Willys M38-A1, basically a military CJ-5 before the CJ-5 was introduced to the civilian market. Second and third were Kaiser Jeeps, a '60 CJ-5 and a '67 Jeepster Commando. The CJ had a Ford 289 swap with an Atlas overdrive. Fun, but tore up T-90 transmissions left and...
  18. Time for new shoes. Current 35x12.50R17 Grabber ATx vs 37x12.50R17 BFG K02

Not a JT but a JLU. Been running the exact KO2's for the last 40k miles, and 10k miles on my old FJ80 before that. They have been excellent tires, measured in around 35.75" when swapped onto my Jeep. Find a shop that can road force balance them, it is well worth the money. Mine have about 5k...
  19. Any personal experience with JGC 4XE

I had a GC 4XE loaner when they did the corrosion repair on the JL. Drove it for a week. By and large I really like the GC but I wouldn't own one with the hybrid drivetrain. It was not refined and many times didn't seem to know if it wanted to be in electric mode or hybrid mode resulting in...
  20. Quiet all terrains?

Not going to find much quieter than BFG KO2s. Pete
