A example of why to keep a full tank or close to it, happened to Alabama some years ago when the large numbers of tornadoes came through AL. one of the few gas stations open afterwards was on Redstone Army Arsenal. Why, the Arsenal had power from generator sets on some things. It was weeks...
FYI here's a 12 v outlet that has been in use etc for 30 some years in my Comanche. ;)
Since I've been trying to do some repair work on it.
Now the one in my Gladiator is a little better in some areas. Being hooked up with Anderson connector to house battery in cab. It has magnets to hold in...
I'd bet on less than 10 amps, in older vehicles... On new a cellphone charger is pressing it, the one in my 05 Wrangler burned out due to a small 12 v fan. I had to replace it. It's the same one as in my Gladiator 2020.
You can use the aux switch to be a trigger for a relay and run heavier gauge wire for the power outlet)s) in the bed too. I'd have to dig out what I did in 2020 when I did mine. That was before I installed a separate system too.
A few things I have noticed in this thread, most here don't travel to far from gas stations, or in climates that are trying to kill you, "hurricanes" included.... Try to evacuate without a full tank of fuel then. 🙄 "transplant from Midwest." They give you a week notice not like tornados so...
You can "use" whatever you want, most of the time I've just wiped out the housing after letting it run out. Then check ring gear teeth and look for metal in bottom and drain pan. I'm more concerned about having some juice in it that will break down seals, and gear oil or cause corrosion. You...
Yeah, I missed that one I speed read "Stock" then missed the "JT" bit. :giggle: :headbang:
Might still be dehydrated from cutting grass and other stuff yesterday.
My 05 Wrangler Unlimited has the "lifetime fluid" it's been changed at least 3 times if not a few more. Manual 6 speed, first change was before end of warranty now at 256000 miles second clutch. In my shed I've got 4-6 gallons of ATF for my Gladiator transmission.... I've been procrastinating...
Glad you got what you wanted, so you saved yourself some $$$ on some things too. Rubicon axles and T-case would have cost more than $5000.°° to get and install.
I checked out a car at the TMP in Germany that had faulty hood latch and folded it over the windshield on Autoban at speed.... Bad day lots of paperwork and a battle with the head of TMP until I got ahold of copy's of the service report on the vehicle being turned in to have the hood latch...
Two stamps and run fast, somehow I misplaced my EOTec magnifier I bought before my last deployment so a fixed backup sight went on. I probably need to go through my "Oh S###" patrol bag and see if I left it in it with plate carrier. If someone didn't decide they really liked it more. 🤔
A...
I've got the Air-Lift kit, I try to unload the suspension and set pressure. From my experience the "kit" from them for a Gladiator isn't the right one for mine but with a call and talking with one of their guys. Doing measurements back n forth a different kit is what I need and HD for the Dodge...
Well, what I've done with my Gladiator lately, hauled 41 bags of concrete to change the "trail rating" of my driveway.
I did "leave a gatekeeper" for cars. :giggle:
My XJ I have 4:56 gears in it and it actually put the speedometer on with 33-35" tires (stock was 29-30" tires and 3:54/3:55 gears). 3:73-4:10 gears are a stronger pinion gear than going deeper "fewer teeth" on pinion in gauging ring gear. More of a issue if you flog it off-road. I'm assuming...
This is a hard question... Paid off, solid axles, actual lever to shift into 4×4, so many things to choose just one.
Now vs my Comanche no rust, more leg room. "I've started working on it" so the JT is drivable so a win there definitely. The Gladiator actually tows better than my Comanche...
I've got some of my father's tools to include his old Lincoln "tombstone welder" from when I was a toddler. I've not actually tried it out but keep it since it was his. I gave my sister and nephews a few of his welding hoods. Since my sister was a welder and was better than I am at welding...
Well the Honcho was my actual first Jeep I got to experience a ride in then a waggy "SJ" and J10 or J20. Seen a few CJ-5's, CJ-7's, and possibly a CJ-8 before I was in the Army. So the Honcho holds a place for me.
Damn you are making some of us feel old now. I remember 1977, I was in grade school my grandfather passed away. Good to see a classic vise though. I ordered a Winton vise years ago because I wanted a quality American made one it wasn't.
On the grandfather tool thing I've got my...
