I have been reading a lot about the ikamper skycamp mini.
Anyone have any thoughts on it?
Looks perfect length for the gladiator bed.
(I have the 18" max modular rack)
What I found on my search for the perfect trailer for us, was that you typically add 1000lb to the dry weight to account for gear, water clothes etc.
WTH is absolutely necessary in my opinion. I found a lot of nice light trailers in the 4000lb. Weight area.
Slides typically weigh about 1klb each...
So I folded my seats down today just to see, and I stand corrected. The middle latch receiver on mine is that same color. The others are white though.
Weird.
I am a Jeep guy through and through.
In the past I have only owned manual transmission Jeep's.
When I bought my gladiator I bought the automatic simply because of the difference in the towing capacity.
I have a 5k lb. Trailer that I use often.(I have already pulled it more than 12k miles with...
I just think it's how it's made. No seal, just overlapping plastic with two metal clamps.
I love the mounts, fuel and water cans but the storage box is severely lacking.
I have an after market brake controller.
If I manually activate the trailer brakes, I get every light on the dash. As soon as I restart the truck they are all off again.
The trailer brakes work fine, but hit the manual brake controller and Walla idiot lights
I was super disappointed in my rotopax first aid kit. Damn box isn't water tight. Drove in a slight rain and it was full of water.
Spent an hour packing first aid stuff in Ziploc bags to keep dry when mounted on the truck
The jt pulls very nicely.
We have towed the trailer over 12k miles this year. Never had any issues at all.
Plenty of power,(I don't typically tow faster than 70 mph) only two things i feel could be improved are mirrors, and fuel capacity.
We have some great trips planned already for the spring...
We tow a 25' travel trailer all over the place.
Use a weight transferring hitch, brake controller and clip on mirrors.
My trailer dry weight is under 5000 lb. So probably around 6000 lb loaded.
I have never had an issue, and always have been very comfortable. I just take it slow, rarely exceed...
If you use a weight transferring hitch you will eliminate all of the squat.
Makes a huge difference while towing, also eliminates any sway the trailer might get.
