  1. Max off camber tolerance before rolling. . .

This is my TJ in the Smokys. My wife was driving. We got a big lean on becuase the ruts were so uneven. This wasn't too scary to me. If we rolled we were not going anywhere :) On the other hand, my wife was pretty tense. Listen for the Ooooooo noises. She sounded like Popeye's...
  2. Max off camber tolerance before rolling. . .

It's not just how far over you go. Part of the scare fator is where you might land. :) This film clip is on Mount Princeton Rd, near Buena Vista, CO. I looks pretty tame but it was a hairy spot. Going up, the road bed was 10° off camber. When I came to this rocky spot, I was going to go...
  3. Max off camber tolerance before rolling. . .

The only way to find the limit is to screw up. :) I haven't screwed up yet. However, I start squealing arond the 17% mark, especially if it is bumpy and especially if it is leaning towards me. I've been to 30 degrees up and down. That still felt very stable.

  5. Canopy Campers - a comparison of options

I met this guy near the top of Mount Princeto in Colorado. He was from Portland, OE and I think I remember that he said he bought the topper in Washington. It looks different than the ones you have shared (notice the hinges). Truck Bed Campers | Wedge Roof Top Tent | Super Pacific...
  6. Colorado Trip Advice

Salida would be a good location. The town is big enough to have a downtown shopping area that is interesting. There are tons of trails nearby, most of them are not too hard. The funteck website is a good source for trails nearby. A good place to camp and first time wheel is the 4-mile area...
  7. I almost feel insulted…. (Spoiler: Dealership Price Gouging)

I made an appointment for my 4th and final Jeep Cares oil change and tire rotation. I called my nearest dealership vs the place where I bough tthe Jeep. I explained what I wanted though I didn't use the word "free". My confirmation text showed this:
  8. Explain This Weight Ticket To Me, Please

The weight scales are normally 3 platforms. It is best if you get the front on the first platform, the rear on the 2nd platform, and the trailer on the 3rd. Unhook the trailer if you have to so that it is on the 3rd platform. How To Weigh | CAT Scale Here is my ticket - Gladiator only...
  9. Rear Sway Bar Reinforcement

I used one hand on the rachet for the small bolts. I used 2 hands for the big ones. FWIW, I used the stock bolts to reattach the sway bar link.
  10. Stock wheels and 35’s

I haven't put a tape measure on them. They are bigger than the 285s that came on my truck. I use a website for tire size comparisons when I am looking for tires. The website shows just 2 choices for 35x11.5r17. The Toyo is spec'd at 34.5. The Nito is spec'd at 34.76. (from this website...
  11. Stock wheels and 35’s

I use Toyo 35x11.5 all terrain tires on stock wheels, mostly because they fit under my fenders.
  12. Rear Sway Bar Reinforcement

    That was easy!
  13. How hard have you pushed your stock Gladiator?

My JT is a Rubicon. I put a 1" spacer in the front to recover the droop from an aftermarket bumper and winch. My JT has gone everywhere my TJ (33s and lifted 4") has gone. I had to beck up one time on Fins N' Things in Moab when the center wouldn't get over a ledge on one of the "hard"...
  14. $74.98 eBay hitch skid.

After years of banging my shins on trailer hitches, I can't bring myself to mount up a hitch skid. If I was going to do one, this one looks great.
  15. Improve factory suspension without lift? Possible?

Springs are mostly about ride height. Shocks are mostly about ride control. Tires fit in the handling equation in a narrow range. All three affect handling, but I would spend my money on shocks. Having said that, finding the right shock for your truck and intended usage might be a test...
  16. Gladiator on a tight Black Bear Pass switchback. Drone footage.

This movie overlaps the first one I posted just a little. It focuses on the steps above the cliff.
  17. Gladiator on a tight Black Bear Pass switchback. Drone footage.

Thanks for the video. I've been down Black Bear twice in my TJ. I need to get there in my Gladiator too. About Black Bear... the 10 miles of road to get to the famous parts is some of the most scenic in Colorado. The steps above the cliff ride might be the scariest part, especially in a...
  18. Anyone install 1” leveling kit on Rubicon?

I put in a puck when I added my bumper and winch. The extra weight lowered the fornt ~3/8 of and inch. The puck got me just above the original stance. I couldn't see and of the difference just eyeballing the change. I ran the stock 285s for 24,000 miles and then switched to Toyo AT...
