We'll see, I'm taking the airstream across the shenandoahs this weekend with the gladiator. Given the JL didn't struggle, I doubt the jt will, though it will be pulling a little more combined weight given the gladiator is a little heavier.
Wrong rubi I know, but I'll be hooking the gladiator to it this weekend. Given the jlur didn't struggle, the gladiator should be fine. I'm hoping for some tow mirrors to come out at some point.
This weekend! Will be towing it about 2 hours away, including going through the shenandoahs. I towed it with my JLUR without issue, so I don't expect there will be any drama. I've got a good WD hitch with sway damper and electronic brakes.
I'm hoping I can find something for the front rail I can attach my bike forks to, would make it super easy to throw the bikes in it that way instead of messing with the cleats and tie downs. I'll try moving the cleats again when I get home from work.
Will that full sized ram have lockers, sway bar disconnect, leather interior, 8.4 satnav and all that other stuff? There's tons of overlap in pricing, but you can get a gladiator for $35k, $41k with the max tow package. I don't know why people are trying to compare a fully loaded out Gladiator...
Yes, get this:

And the tekonsha brake controller of your choosing and plug it in under the dash. That's it. I put one in my JL, took all of 5 minutes and most of that was tucking the wires in so they didn't hang down.
That's what I thought, but no luck. I slide it to the larger opening and it doesn't come out. Not sure if I need to do something else or I'm not doing it right or what.
There's overlap In both directions, you can easily spec any mid sized truck to cost more than a full sized truck. Comparably optioned, a full size will be a little more.
If you're comparing a Rubicon (which is where a lot of sticker shock is coming from), the comparable full sized trucks are...
A brake controller is a hundred bucks and takes all of 5 minutes to install. If that's all that's stopping you, go for it. They're pre wired and come with a plug under the dash for it, it's literally plug and play.
I put one in my JL, it's super easy. I put it on the right side and below the steering wheel above my knee. Will be putting the same one in my JT, takes maybe 10 minutes to install.
Anybody know how to move a cleat to the front rail of the system? It's not immediately obvious. Tried unscrewing all the way and moving to the larger slots on the end but no luck.
