So, my Jeep has the base system. NOT the Alpine system. That's critical because it means my speakers are 8 ohm and I have no subwoofer.
With that being said, the Audio Uprising front soundstage upgrade opened up the sound some. It added a small amount of additional base and punch. It added...
I'm waiting on the Audio Uprising kit for my Jeep right now. It's been sitting at a UPS hub 20 miles away for the last 5 days but they won't deliver it to me because of "weather". Sigh....
I heard somebody say why can't they build it with IFS for Sport and Sahara/Overland/Mojave and then give the Rubicon the solid front axle? Then everybody is happy.
On paper that's a great idea but in reality I don't think they'd do that. One of the big benefits of IFS is that they could...
That's been the million-dollar question. JL/JT are both due for a complete replacement for 2029 model year, most likely going on sale in calendar year 2028. That's coming up FAST. And there have been rumors that Jeep is internally looking at the question "what if Gladiator was separated from...
Odd to me that Gladiator resale is so poor compared to Wrangler. It didn’t used to be that way. What happened? I just leased a new JL Rubicon a couple months ago and the residual value at 3 years and 22,000 miles is 67%! Best resale in the U.S. in the J.D. Power study that came out last...
Since 4.88s are now a factory option on JL (and maybe JT?) it would be cool to find some axles in a salvage yard and just swap them in. That would be easy, and probably less expensive because you could then sell your 3.73/4.10 axles.
The problem with enclosed trailers isn't the weight so much as it is the lack of aerodynamic profile. I'd drag 7,000 lbs. around with no issues at all, except having to stop at the fuel stations frequently!
I've reviewed the Falken A/T, A/T3W, and A/T4W. The A/T3Ws went 75k miles on an F-250 diesel which amazed me. The A/T4W was showing the same great wear at the 20k mile review interval and the traction was just as amazing. I have no idea why people talk smack about the A/T4W. The ONLY changes...
You guys don't remember this being hashed out back in 2020? From a CNET interview with Jeep:
"While the Jeep Gladiator and Wrangler share more than a few parts, one thing they won't be sharing is the Wrangler's four-cylinder turbocharged gas engine.
Jeep will not offer its 2.0-liter I4 turbo...
We've hashed this out a million times. They are two different vehicles with different purposes. SAE J2807 towing testing prevents Gladiator from getting engines that are prone to generating too much heat inside the tiny engine bay. That's why we never saw the 2.0T engine in JT. And it's why...
I run the original spec, 5W30, in all my P-star engines. This is also still the current spec in other countries. All my P-stars have been flawless, including my 202,000 mile 2020 Grand Cherokee.
I know, I was really hoping for a 5.7L Gladiator....even though I've gone on record that I don't think it's going to happen. But man wouldn't that be sweet....
Did Jeep disclose to you that the new 0W20 oil spec was purely to save themselves money by reducing EPA fines, and that said oil spec would wipe out your valvetrain shortly out of warranty? No? Then F 'em. Trade it in and act like nothing happened.
I've had midsize, fullsize, and a fullsize HD pickup(s) over the years. LOTS of trucks, and I've towed just about everything imagineable. My experience has been that the midsize 1/2 ton trucks (Gladiator, Ranger, Frontier, etc.) feel exactly the same as the fullsize 1/2 ton trucks when towing...
The manual is not "adamant" about 0W20. It clearly says "recommended". Both the 3.6 and 5.7 were built many many years ago when 0W20 wasn't even on the shelf.
I have never seen cam/lifter issues on a 3.6 or 5.7 engine that has run 5W30 from new. And in my personal experience with 6-digit...
My favorite trim is Willys. I love the black wheels, black grille, etc. Still get a rear locker which is plenty for most people especially a guy buying his first Jeep. And I actually prefer the 2.72:1 transfer case over what is in the Rubicon.
Strange thing is, where I live the deals are...
I'll tell you something else the Gladiator is in DESPERATE need of if you're just looking to develop a new towing product: mirrors! The exterior mirrors on the Gladiator are laughable. There was a guy selling clip-on extensions and I bought those and they helped only marginally...
