Jim: Actually the 3.6L radiator is the same. You can buy a 392 radiator, different p/n. But it is the same. I heard/read somewhere that because the 3.6L has a single exhaust "port" per head. The "exhaust" manifold is effectively water cooled. The heat load for a 3.6L is similar to a 6.4L. The...
J.R. Your right, as for the GPEC5 programming it is much more difficult. I understand the need for security and intellectual property rights. But I also feel that somehow "the right to repair" is getting trampled on here! LOL
Ryan: I'll have to work up a parts list and get it over to you. Everything, except the exhaust is available from Jeep. The motor mounts, really the frame perches. The welded on parts of the frame that the motor mounts bolt too. Are different for the 392. I did purchase these from Jeep. These are...
J.R: You'll need your original BCM. However this is one of the only modules that you can get a dealer to copy. So before I pulled anything out of my Gladiator I had the dealer install and program a new BCM. The BCM is central to the logic flow of the whole system and most importantly it has the...
David: Aside from the "Dead Horse Theory" LOL. I just completed this swap and can confirm that from the transmission cross member forward they are indeed the same. In fact because the transmission cross member is in the same location. The drivelines bolt up. Now while the Gladiator rear drive...
Ryan, I did the labor and parts ordering. The programming I had to use someone to do that. This isn't an AMW or RubiTrux "kit". Which as far as I know, they don't offer. It really is for the most part OEM.
I have the 392 in and running. Still need to clear some DTC's. But for the most part it is fully functional. This is pretty much an "OEM" swap. All the parts are orderable from Jeep. For the programming you need to go to someone other than Jeep to get done. In my opinion, the Gladiator was made...
Do those bolt up to the 8HP75 tail housing? The “standard” 4:1 Rubicon case is behind everything but the 392? I know the Atlas takes a fabricated adapter. I personally would still lean towards the Borg Warner (44-47) they use behind the 6.4 and 6.7 Diesel the put in the 2500/3500 and even 4500...
Not sure, I got the engine from the shop that did the swap. I am going to guess he got the PCM (GPEC2A) that came with the Demon crate engine? Though he kept his original PCM. The crate engine PCM's are special and Mopar gives you a lot more leeway when programming them and unlocking them. I...
Here's some of the "fun" parts I've collected. The valve cover/coil covers now have the decal in Mojave Orange as do the "392" hood emblems. Both of these were from companies licensed to sell Mopar reproductions. The Wrangler Rubicon 392 Unlimited accent color is dusty gold / Bronze.
The core support for the 392 is different than any of the 3.6/2.0/diesel core supports. Though the other core support p/n are the same Gladiator and Wrangler. I’ll look into the airflow. Right now still collecting parts. Thanks for your interest.
Hoping to do an “OEM” swap! Mopar almost makes it seem like they want you to do this. They even make the Weld on frame perches available. Clearly though the devil is in the details!
The more the merrier! I am still collecting parts. I have a 392, 8HP75 trans and MP3022 xfercase out of a Wrangler. Apparently the 470/470 hp/ftlbs weren’t enough. He swapped in a Demon!!
I’ve talked with a number of Wrangler 392 owners. They all seem fairly happy with the stock xfercase. If I do have a failure, I think I’d go with BW44-47 manual transfer case out of a 2500. For now though still collecting parts. Thanks for your interest.
Hi All: I am just starting the 6.4 Hemi swap on my 2023 Mojave. I have the 392, 8Hp75 and MP3022C transfer case out of a 392 Wrangler. Still collecting parts. Some fairly long lead times on the cooling module (radiator, condensor, trans cooler, oil cooler etc..) and the battery tray. I am going...
