This thread is about mpg. If you're not worried about mpg, you might be reading the wrong post? Because aside from whether or not you carry a Jerry can, what's the point of discussing mpg aside fom cost? Diesel versus gas torque is a whole different matter, but again, that wasn't the topic.
Oh, you're talking TIG. While I'd LOVE to learn, I'm not there yet. I've got a Mig I can set up for Al if I get a spool gun. Would you need this set-up for MIG? I appreciate the links, though!
I am ignorant about welding aluminum. You say it's a multi-process welder, but what process? Mig with a spool gun? Tig? Also, if you could even give me dimensions of material- for instance what you used for that top rack, that would be helpful. Like, 2x2 square? What's the wall thickness...

Those winglets don't look super complicated. I'm sure I could fab something up out of aluminum to fill that gap. Might even look better. Or heavy plastic sheet. I was assuming there would be piles of the damned things lying around like so many stock bumpers..
