I personally like the video from Diode Dynamics and have been using the DOT recommended 2" below center of headlight height @ 25ft from wall. I lean towards 2.5" below optical center as the load in the bed of my JT fluctuates. I too have watched the Northridge 4x4 video and think something is...
Yeah, still haven't installed mine yet since the weather in CO has been so cold and then on the warm weekends we get outside to play. It's still going on and I'll have a write-up to follow.
10 pages and 139 posts later I'll continue to bring sand to this beach...
1) more powerful engine, i prefer V8 if you're asking
2) realistic price tag with said V8
Well, I spent all of 10min cleaning time by taking it off with the (4) bolts, unclipping the connector and removing the push clip from the TB holding the wiring up neat. I personally did NOT move the butterfly and feel pleased with the results (both front and rear cleaned).
I didn't replace the...
Bumping thread up... Well I decided to take a look at my TB since my truck is at 60K miles. It looks pretty bad IMO. Going to remove it and clean it off. Question, should I move the butterfly by hand to clean the edges? My assumption is NO due to the calibration of the TB itself and not...
Ha, true, we did stray away from the OG question...
Short Story:
What would I have done differently = I would have done upgraded ball joints and steel knuckles at the beginning and done the re-gear sooner knowing that I was going to run 37's
Long Story:
No major regrets, and here's why:
1) I...
^^ Perfect list!!! ^^
up to 37's = bullet points #1 - #3 to "build it properly" (yes, all steering related linkage from tie rod, drag link, track bar and, dare I say, steel knuckles to go along with those upgraded ball joints)
over 37's = #4 & #5 will squeeze out the last drop of juice before...
I'll play devil's advocate for a minute then take a break on the thread as I'm basically acting as an "arm chair expert" at this point. I'd love to get opinions from people on this thread who actually pull the trigger on the kit :)
Accuair has travel numbers here and there on their website but...
All good info! Just a note though, I don't believe the rear-only kit for $2999 comes with any brand of shock. Not sure what Accuair is recommending outside of the JRi. They are including limiting straps with the rear only kit, which infers that a customer can run their own choice?
It's about time you joined the shock conversation :) Like you, I'm more interested in just the rear only bag setup with the new Scout Tuktut camper and the wild weight swings when I remove it (plus the ability to partially self level the rear on camping trips).
To over-simplify this... I'd...
If you check post #30 in this thread I reached out to Accuair awhile back to ask about shock length. From post #86 in this thread, Accuair says that the shocks are the "limiting straps" so keep that extended length in mind. If you find a non-JRi shock within these specs, then you might be good...
Yes you will absolutely be fine at the payload range above and the AEV HC coils. AEV's website is a little confusing (open-ended might be a better descriptor) in terms of the spring's total capabilities. I think the 400-700lb quoted numbers are AEV's recommended constant load numbers to "start"...
Blue color are HC, grey color are SC for Gladiator... now, whether they are gas or diesel is another question. Here's the only pic I have of my FRONT GAS version HC coil currently in the JT.
Sorry for crappy pics, but just got bumper back from powder and snapped off a couple pics.
Hoping to provide some details, install pics and impressions vs OEM in the coming month.
I forgot to update this post, but my item was delivered perfectly on 12/13 just as the tracking number said and the box looks like it did come directly from JKS. Overall I'm extremely happy and would do business again.
Done... for now. What a final prize! Been eyeing up a coil over kit all year. Come on Christmas wish :) Thanks again Northridge 4x4 for a fantastic 2024!
