It's a secondary filter that doesn't filter all of the oil each cycle. Basically takes about 10 to 15% of the oil through a secondary filter that can filter down to 1-3 microns instead of the typical 30 micron filters used to keep flow in the system.
Well I plan on getting the deisel, so first would be a spray in liner, then a bypass filter. Can't be too careful with a dirty engine.
Then hopefully Green Deisel Engineering will have a remap package for the jeep.

Not to mention how difficult it would be to have a roll down window mate up with a removable top and remain rain tight. Having the window track correctly after each removal and reinstall of the top would be a nightmare, from an engineering state.

That is some unnerving information. In all fairness we should be getting the "gen 2" of the ecodiesel. Hopefully these issues have been worked out. It appears the new engines are showing different part numbers at least hinting at changes and repairs. Thank you for giving some follow up...
