  1. Brake vacuum loss after a day or two of sitting - normal?

Hi all, I'm not sure if this is normal or not, so wanted to hear from y'all. If I ever let my JTR sit for over a day or so without running, when I get in the brake pedal is really firm - so much so that the start button sometimes will act like I didn't press the brake in and go to ACC instead...
  2. Dang! Even Gorilla Glass wouldn't have helped with this rock to the windshield!

Wow - glad that the lady wasn't seriously hurt. That's a big honking rock, they had to be going pretty fast if that thing "jumped" out of the back of a truck, hit the ground, then bounced into and through the windshield. (Set note to self to have that dang auto cruise control set for "max"...
  3. Article: top price premiums paid for new vehicles -- JT is 4th on list

This article is the closest to accurate on new silicon fab construction timeframes as I've seen. https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2021/11/why-the-chip-shortage-drags-on-and-on-and-on/ Now, whether the chip shortages continue to drive prices up or some other unanticipated or unexpected...
  4. Article: top price premiums paid for new vehicles -- JT is 4th on list

https://247wallst.com/autos/2021/11/16/wrangler-is-the-car-that-dealers-overcharge-for-the-most/ JL takes first price, JT is fourth place. Interesting times.
  5. Show Us Your Bumpers!

Meant to upload to this thread when I installed this thing - Fishbone Offroad Mid-width, FB22088.
  6. Anyone buy military surplus?

OMG ... I did not need to know about the govplanet website. :CWL: Must delete ... oooh, look, M1084's!
  7. Just me or are tire prices going up? [CLOSED DUE TO POLITICS]

The whole reason I'm in a JT now is because my Ram was 8+ years old and I didn't want to risk not being able to get parts to keep it going should they (the electric parts) fail, which they inevitably will, especially in Texas heat. Supply chain is seeing significant increases in prices for...
  8. Sealed up the bed, but not the traditional way.

Yes - exactly, just like your top pictures. The double sided stuff you got looks like it would be super - did you get that from Amazon?
  9. Sealed up the bed, but not the traditional way.

Here you go, hopefully it helps. I did wipe down the paint with alcohol pretty good before applying.
  10. Sealed up the bed, but not the traditional way.

That's exactly the reason I thought this was a great thing to try instead of going directly to the full rubber seal method. My tonneau does a good job at keeping water out, but not 100% perfect. I've checked the bed the afternoon after some heavy rains and a little bit of water would be in...
  11. Sealed up the bed, but not the traditional way.

After seeing your original post, I looked for it at Amazon and got an "extra sticky 3M" version of the tape. Product at this link. So far it has held up really well - and I've been pleased at how well it works. Thanks for the original suggestion!
  12. Drive through car wash... spraying inside the cab

... Couldn't resist ... :) One of the things I really like about the JT and any other pickup I've had is that, in my mind, "it's supposed to be dirty." That being said, if too dirty will wash in the touchless wash. The twirly-bird spinning brush washes look like a quick path to peeling...
  13. ThinSkinz - New Satin Finish !!!

Wow that looks fantastic - I'm both happy and sad I literally ordered last weekend! If I'd seen these I probably would have waited - ha! Question though: The satin finish looks great, but have you "Golden Retriever" tested it? Will dog nails show scratches on the satin finish?
  14. (VolatileA) Big Sur - 2021 Sting Gray Mojave Build

Looking awesome! Are ya' going to do the beach thing, or head up to Marble Falls? https://www.hiddenfallsadventurepark.com/
  15. Map update

Sounds like there's been no improvement over the update process that was the Uconnect in my 2014 RAM. I followed that process exactly once, and never updated again. Same for my 2017 Mazda MX5, somewhat (barely) less convoluted, but nevertheless much too much work. I let Google Maps download...
  16. Buying a car for a family member when they get old enough to drive

Good thread, good discussion. My anecdote/background - back before the turn of the century, I was able to get my driver's license at 15. (Ha!) In the early 80's, when I was 14 and had my learner's permit, my dad pointed to the F-100 with 250k+ miles on it that had sat with grass growing up...
  17. Gladiator vs the power wagon

Dang, tough choices, but kiddos only going to get bigger. If this is your primary vehicle, then the PW will give you the space for growing kids. They and their friends will take tons of space.
  18. What engine would you prefer? (Revised)

Coming from a 2014 RAM with a slightly tweaked 5.7 (ported throttle body, Vararam, + 2014's had unencrypted ECU, so the Diablo tuner gave a ton of tweaking options), the 3.6 sometimes feels like it can't get out of its own way. I'd love that 5.7, but am getting used to the 3.6.
  19. Windshield Tint % to go with?

Yeah, I'd expect any decent shop to be familiar with it. Here's what was put on mine: https://northamerica.llumar.com/automotive-film/types-of-automotive-film/clear-window-tint/clear-window-tint-series A pretty cool thing that they did was put an "extra / double upped" rectangle of the clear...
  20. Windshield Tint % to go with?

Agree with above guidance on legal checks/concerns with out of state. I had ceramic done on windshield, but with no tint at all - only bring that up to note that it is great for reducing heat (don't even have to put up sun shades which is awesome), I do notice banding while wearing polarized...
