I drove the trailer down the highway to a truck stop a couple towns over and weighed my boat and trailer. My guess was 2000lbs loaded how I would normally trailer it, which is with all my fishing gear in the boat. It can out to 2100lbs on the CAT scale with half tank of gas. Not to heavy at all...
Got the boat on. I’ll have to go with an in-line straight hitch to counter the few invest I lost from the ram 1500 I had. The bottom sits about two inches low and the back two inches. Not bad and good enough to tow but I like keeping things inline.
To be honest I was worried about missing the space of a bigger truck. I do move a lot of lumber for my small woodworking business but I bought a trailer hitch extender to put bigger boards on so it will be fine. I always wanted a jeep so I figured now was the time.
yep I agree. Just odd that the vehicle is tested and rated for 4500lbs but they put a hitch that is only rated to 3500lbs. They should have put a class 3 on to get the full 4500lb capacity.
I ended buying it since my boat is well under the 3500lbs for class 2 hitch. Seems odd that jeep would put a class 2 hitch on a vehicle whose base towing capacity is 4500lbs though.
I pulled the trigger and joined the club. Bought a gladiator Willys 2022 with 21k on it. I am coming from a 2012 ram1500 5.7. Had the vehicle for a very long time but it started having some major issues with transmission and engine lifters so it was time to retire it. I always wanted a wrangler...
I dont need 6000lbs of towing. Just need to move my boat. The willys I am looking, I was able to talk down to a good deal. Just need to make sure it will tow safely. From my math it looks like it should work.
Manual does not list gladiator Willy’s mode so I am going off the basic sport model. Manual says class 2 hitch is cabals up to 3500lbs. Sport automatic model gladiator without any tow package is 4500lbs with tongue weight up 450lbs. The way I look at this is since I have class 2 hitch I can tow...
Must have glanced over it. thanks for the help. Not to beat a dad horse. I am just trying to make sure the vehicle will do what I need it to do.
My follow up question is if it has a class 2 hitch, which is rated for 3500lbs, 3500lbs should be max regardless if the vehicle is rated for 4000lbs...
The trailer hitch has a jeep cover and it is not bolted to the frame like aftermarket. I was reading that all 2022 galdiater willys come with standard tow package. Is there anywhere to confirm that?
Appreciate you helping me out looking. This vehicle still capable of towing a boat under the 4000 lbs safely and laucnhing safely? I steered away from jeep wrangler 4 doors because even those with the 4000lb tow capacity are sketchy on boat ramps sometimes and even highway speeds with emergency...
