Personally no think the head unit has enough power for upgraded speakers. Still needs an added sub woofer. But yes I think fine without extra amps for speakers.

I have the 7" screen. No upgrade alpine system.

I installed my MBQuart 6x9 adapter's and JBL 6x9 speakers in my sound bar. More photos in my build thread.

So I went in today and started ripping my sound bar apart. Yes grabbed the jigsaw and started cutting. Here are some photos of the carnage. I bought these JBL 6x9's to replace the 6x8's I had ordered and decided to return instead of trying to make fit with this MBQuart adapter's. So...

Yeah felt more comfortable removing the sound bar. Looking forward to the improvement in sound.

I received the new connectors today, and installed the dash 3.5" JBL's. I have only listened for a few minutes, but I tell you I cannot hear the sound bar now. Updating the sound bar is next.

Sure, this was my setup. But there are many kicker, infinity, etc in the same price range based on what you keep original size or upgrade to larger. Only have front pods in now, will have dash 3.5's in this weekend (waiting on correct connector). Maybe soundbar this weekend as well. Sub in...

I sorta like the 7", what I have as well. I am just swapping speakers (and increasing their size). The pods sound great, more work. WIll have the front tweeters in this weekend. I think my speakers were about 250 the sub is more like 3 (got a discount on amazon for 150 off with prime CC)...
