Manufacturer's max payload and max tow ratings are to legally protect the manufacturer if you do something stupid and cause an accident.
They are NOT there to legally protect YOU if you do something stupid, regardless of whether what you're hauling or towing happens to be under or over the...
Zing! You got me good!
I meant you don't need to look only at the sticker and treat it as the only consideration.
Common sense means that some loads under the limit could be unsafe when you drive like there's no load behind you. Likewise, loads over the number may be "safe" (maybe not "legally...
Ok, that post was maybe a little over the top. But seriously, our over-litigious society forces manufacturers to maintain these number low, because people don't drive with common sense any more.
I couldn't be more thrilled with the folks whining about payload/towing. Means I get to keep the fun for myself and it'll be more of a collector's item if/when I'm ready to sell.
Diaper bags ain't that heavy, bro!
And in the 16 years I've driven my LJ, I can count the times I've even looked at...
What @2Jeeps&PatriotX1 thinks the ecoDiesel payload capacity looks like with a winch, 2 dogs, a cooler, 12-pack of beers, and bag of ice in the bed...

Just giving you a hard time, man!
LOL. No comment on torque/hp/mileage, not what I was claiming.

I'd take the I-6 4.0L over the pentastar for reliability any day of the week and twice on Sunday.
Yes, diesels will be more expensive to buy and maintain. And granted, I've never driven one with the fancy exhaust gizmos; you bet your britches I'll be getting the longest warranty they...
Motor1's article has the new wrangler-style badge. I thought we were getting the "3.0 D" based on the one TFLTruck saw in Feb!

To be fair, those of us with EcoDiesels are a special case. We've been in D1 for well over a month now because they were waiting on the model year change and then the 3.0 production didn't start until last week. It's not like they asked "What does this button on my dash do?"
Crypto email; build sheet is done. Is everyone enjoying the play-by-play, or is this too much? @WMWHV are we racing? Illinois is closer to Toledo than Texas!
