I have a Curt front hitch on my Mojave for a surf rod rack , I believe it is rated 9,000 pounds straight line pull. Why go with such a big winch , go with something more basic and old school style with out the fairing. Putting an 8-9,000 winch, even a narrow spool model will make the whole...
Our friend Lunentucker has been gone for awhile but is still a valid contributing member!
“This is the way”
I did it ,removed the battery left the PCR wired with wires tucked away and taped up , removed negative from main battery to aux battery coiled it up in a sandwich bag and left it...
Search "winch plastic bumper" or perhaps "winch plastic bumper club" there have been a lot done, I think member "Divided Wood" started it all years ago. I don't know if anyone has done the Badlands Apex, if you don't wheel hard getting the more basic style winch with out decorative fairings...
WDH is what you need your hitch weight should not be that bad but if your rear is sagging your front is probably getting light. Awesome choice, it is hard to stay at 3,000 pounds and have a dry bathroom.
What have you purchased , just front Mojave X springs for steel bumper and winch? Others have swapped Mojave X springs for the front after putting a winch on , I am planning on it also and have the springs and half inch spacers for a bit more lift in front…Jack
Serious???…. Is there something wrong with Dan “Wildhobo” , YES, I promised “Crash ED” I would pass on his payback he gave me so there ya go……DM sent!…..Jack
I think Chris stacking the fairleads was a great way to do it. I had a piece of 1/4” 1”x3” steel angle I cut out the winch line opening with a holesaw and sawzall drilled the holes to match and spanned the frame horns and it was solid I did drag a F-250 up a hill at a thirty degree angle about...
Eddie are you thinking about doing it it so , I’ll send you an LOD winch plate, and fairlead mount, sort of pay back for all your knowledge shared….Jack
Agree to disagree haha! Understand that the Glady is a stronger towing platform them my Suburban was, not as much power but enough and handle’s weight better ,and I had three generations of Tahoe / suburbans with each generation getting less truck like and also lower to ground m, and cringe...
I watched the video , one thing Jeep has right is the Wrangler tracing back back 85 years , and anyone in the world can look at a Wrangler and know it is a Jeep, probably less then ten percent of worlds population know what a Tacoma is. Changing the Wrangler to a platform that also fits a...
Typical timing, just ordered one Monday!
I have a hitch skid with shackle mount and pulled a guy off beach entrance that did not have a great hook but had a hitch , used a soft shackle and a hitch pin , but would rather have a hitch link and shackle , good idea to have it in your recovery bag...
Got me thinking Mike , why couldn’t we put a adjustable jib crane on the front using bumper shackle mounts , also using a front receiver hitch , use a slide in drop hitch like from a weight distributing hitch , put a wheel on it to use your bumper mount winch for lifting . It could extend out ...
Bill, the 392 hood is vented to the engine bay also , perhaps as much as 50%. System is called “HydroGuide” and is also the way water is kept out of air intake. The system has flaps over the air outlets into engine bay which close at low speeds. Is pretty impressive and I have the parts list...
Sometimes it gets dirty, this day I hit a puddle with the freedom tops off ,a wall of muddy water went up and plastered the interior, seats were brown as was I, it was great!
Oh yeah the Glady is blue , the only blue you see on the whole front of the Jeep was from the windshield washers!……Jack
I would really talk to them first. The pictures are a little confused , although the steps have the groove on them to match the performance steps, in the pictures it seems to change and looks like the standard rub rails with a groove which they don’t have, perhaps it’s AI, but a phone call will...
Dan, maybe loose the “Jeep” logo and fill it in, I think it would look better awash with badges instead of the odd opening telling them you have a Jeep!
Damn I just realized ,not sure if I have enough years left yet to try and catch up to you, I’ll still take a run at it!……Jack
Staying on pavement wheeling , and not hitting the gas hard , the steering and ball joints might be your concern overtime, upgrade when the time comes…..Jack
PS: This comes from a guy that runs skinner tires then stock and doesn’t need the big tires, so take it for what it’s worth!
Guys Dan has the” Mopar Performance Steps” not the standard rock rails. Looks like Exceed might make something that’s in the pictures but pictures don’t look right, I would reach out to them and ask. I have the Performance Steps they are great my five foot wide does ok with them and the ground...
