I'm not sure how often they update their website but Currie Enterprises is not associated with Rock Jock anymore. Call them and ask. I did. The split happened in late-2019 and official launch of RockJock 4x4 was in 2020.

Black Vue and Thinkware are the leaders in the industry for quality and reliability. I've had the Black Vue DR900s dual camera system in a couple cars for years and it's survived the extreme heat and cold. Previously had random Chinese brands and they all die eventually from the heat.

I don't doubt that it could have happened but I've seen these winches used constantly under extreme conditions and never an issue. I have seen their ropes break more than a couple times but again, usually under extreme conditions like sunken mud recoveries.
