The OEM's have reduce the size of the wire sheath to reduce weight, but maintained a decent gauge wire. I like the Positaps as they simply pierce the sheath and insert into the wire. You can remove it and it only leaves a small pinhole in the covering and doesn't tend to cut the wire itself...

I just tapped mine to connect the interior lights in my topper and if I recall, it's 18ga. I know I used an 18ga Positap to make the connection.

Gotcha, the key popping out is the most aggravating part....

No they didn't try to add anything and the car came directly from Stellantis... I don't see any mention of it on the window sticker unless it's a part of either the Technology Group or Convenience Group...
