Huh? It's not going to be simply a Wrangler with a bed. Completely different frame, rear suspension setup from a Ram 1500, and a leaked but not 100% confirmed 6500lb towing capacity...which is in line with the rest of the mid size truck market. Colorado maxes out at 7000lbs(ZR2 is only 5k)...
Somebody on AR15.com snapped a few pics of this one at the gas station. Not much new either, but it's something.
Apparently the lady driving it told him it would only be available in 2wd and with an inline 3 cylinder. Think she was trolling him..
I mean, this image was posted by the folks who run this site, that we more or less know are FCA affiliated in some manner. So you can be assured that this is gonna be pretty darn close to the end product. The body line matches up nicely with the cab, the only interesting thing is the cab/flare...
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
Interesting that seems to be based on the leaked CAD and not the earlier forum renders. Santa bring us a little leak for Christmas? ;)
Could also be people are just reading too much into the Base/Premium package details on the leaked docs.
It very could well be Sport/Sport S/etc. fall under "Base" and then "Sahara/Rubicon/etc." fall under "Premium." Just the details aren't hashed out enough as of yet, and there's enough...
Hahaha yup, I always look at my little J2000 sitting under a cover in the driveway, it's so tiny compared to a modern truck. I think in one of the spy photos of the Gladiatior it was pictured near a crew cab 1500 Silverado, and there wasn't a huge difference in size!
Agreed. Finally having a bed and then immediately filling it with the spare tire seems a little silly. Normal Wrangler style tire carrier from the aftermarket for me.
6500LB towing is already "confirmed" via leaked documents. It's not just a JL with a bed, it has an entirely separate frame and the rear axle from the Ram 1500s based on spy photos.
Yup.
Personally, I had half doors on my TJ. Never used 'em as just the "half" door. Either doors on, or doors off. Never understood the point. The windowed half door is a neat sorta throwback to the windowed CJ doors of yesteryear though.
A composite or aluminum bed are probably more in need of a tough bedliner than a regular steel bed is. I'd probably pass on a factory liner in favor of LineX though.
Personally I'm gonna switch to a rear bumper tire carrier and hopefully either MOPAR or aftermarket will offer an aux diesel tank for the under bed spare tire location.
Agreed with Vegas, definitely some type of either under seat/under floor storage, or hopefully they do something creative with...
Based on the aerial screenshots of the JT posted before, the JT's rear hardrop section does have the same removable panels as the JK/JL over the front seats, so the rear cab section should be way lighter and easier to remove since it doesn't have the extra set of windows.
I don't have my numbers handy, but I took the JK vs JT frames leaked already, compared the overall JK vs JL lengths and guesstimated the JT's length based on that. It was maybe around 218" I think?
