It was about 15 miles for us, driving down the highway after purchasing from the dealer. Truck abruptly limited itself to 40mph and was flashing the ETC. Very scary.

These wore down quick in our Wrangler so might be a good idea to have a backup set if...
These are the black logo'ed mats - super hard to find in dealer inventory, only seen them special ordered. Watching the thread in case DawnViola falls through :like:
For anyone looking for a possible resolution (like me) it seems that others have noted it may be a loose PCM cable or fuses: https://www.jeepgladiatorforum.com/forum/threads/loose-pcm-p0118-service-electronic-throttle-control.50668/
Thanks for posting this and the resolution. We just picked up our gladiator from the dealer new and on the drive home got the ETC error and limp mode too.. gives me some piece of mind there's something I can check if the dealer can't figure it out.
We currently have an automatic JLU (switching to JT now) and it definitely does that too. Granted, we tow so I had attributed it to some stress/strain on the drivetrain from that. But 30k miles in and no defect strong enough to have it inspected/repaired/replaced.
