Go to the search bar & type in "255/85R17". There are quite a few pics of them in a few different threads.
I run them on my JKR and I'm very impressed with them, both off-road and on-road.
If by rust, you mean only corrosion on steel, then I don't think I've seen any reports of anything too bad - usually just what I'd consider cosmetic surface rust on undercarriage parts. I haven't seen any reports of rust on steel body panels.
Now, if we are talking about aluminum corrosion on...
If you plan on keeping one of these JTs for a long time, you need to start from day 1 with corrosion mitigation. Not matter how much you wash off the vehicle, IMO it's going to disappoint you in regards to corrosion unless you do something about it when it is brand new. Keeping it out of salty...
Just wondering ... is the "stiffer" claim something that Falken states or is it inferred from the change from a 2-ply to 3-ply sidewall?
For an off-road tire, a stiffer sidewall does not necessarily perform better off-road when aired down. Yes, the 3-ply sidewall is usually more robust and...
I heavier tire will negatively impact acceleration & braking along with on-road ride. But, will you really notice it going to a tire that is 10 lbs heavier? Probably not. 22 lbs heavier? Maybe, maybe not.
Anyhow, I know you have your choices narrowed down, but the Mickey Thompson Baja Boss...
Depends on the Land Rover. I've owned 4 of them, and they all kinda sucked on-road in the snow. But, in their defense, they were 1963, 1969, 1971, and 1974. :)
Since this is your first truck, I'm assuming that it is your first vehicle with 4H part-time 4wd. You are definitely experiencing the difference between the AWD systems used on most cars/CUVs/SUVs and 4H part-time. 4H part-time forces tire slippage during cornering, leading to bad handling...
I have the premium Alpine system, and I was very disappointed with it at first. The speakers just sounded 'muffled' to me, with no clear highs. So, I installed 3.5" Infinity Reference REF-3032cfx speakers in both the dash & sound bar. I did just the dash first and it was a huge improvement...
If you can find the pieces, dry out the moisture and glue the pieces back in place. You'll also need to carefully apply liquid (not gel) superglue to the cracks to seal them to. The problem is that it likely won't look very good, even though it is serviceable.
To me, it looks a lot like you...
If thanks are being express, thanks for coming in 23.5 hours after the initial post to question if the OP had a CEL on. That picture of the dash with no CEL was really difficult to interpret.
Best of everything ... that's a bold statement. Either way, I get what you are saying.
For me, my Jeeps are about having something different or special ... having a flavor in a sea of plain vanilla vehicles.
First time I dropped off the kids at school in the Mojave, the principal (a JKU...
I get wanting to clarify, but ...
... note that the OP never simply called the light a CEL, they called it a "(!) CEL" in both posts. In the initial post, they have a picture of the dash, clearly showing the TPMS warning light and no actual CEL.
Note that the TPMS warning light looks a lot...
Me too. Mud is tough on vehicles, and I'm mechanically sympathetic. First thing I thought when I saw the OP's picture was that the front axle tubes got filled up with that nasty muddy mess, and it flowed in around the axle seals as well as the front pinion seal - yuck.
My bet is that at some point the tire pressure dropped below the threshold to set off the warning (likely due to temperature drop), then warmed up. I've found that when the pressure drops enough to set off the TPMS, you then have to pump the tires up enough to re-set the TPMS warning, which...
