Yeah I saw that which those numbers (GCWR for rubi) are inconsistent with the numbers on their current marketing specs sheet so the question is what is the real numbers. It is possible the owners manual (mine says 'first edition') is wrong. Inconsistencies bug me.
I will repeat this again. Towing Capacity is NOT on a sticker. The GVWR of the vehicle is on the sticker and the GAWR of each axle. There is nothing on the vehicle that shows the tow rating or the GCWR. Those can either be found in the owners manual or online.
The spec sheet is posted on the FCA media site: https://media.fcanorthamerica.com/newsroom.do?id=4&mid=4

Door sticker only shows what is already known. 6450 GVWR for the Rubicon. They don’t list towing numbers on that sticker. It would be what is the generic listing in the owners manual which has already been put up here or what is being found for your VIN online/app.
Although the C rated tires from the factory should cover you all the way up through the listed payload capacity if you can, move to an E rated tire then you should never have to worry about them being overweight.
The tire 'payload' sticker on the door jamb. Had to go back to work so I have not had a chance to look over it more. Tow rating would be whatever is published on the app/online and it looks like I have to wait until their system moves me from 'subscriber' of the vin in 'My Garage' to Owner...
Sam might have beat me here by a day but now I have keys in hand. Just need to finish up some paperwork and I will be good to go. Drives really nice. Good acceleration and the suspension is surprisingly softer than I thought it would be with the stiffer diesel springs.
Oh and online payload...
Impatiently waiting until 10am tomorrow to pick mine up.... Really trying not to drive over there to take a look tonight.
My favorite part of ordering over buying off the lot:
Max tow does have stiffer springs in the rear but a set of air bags can make up for that difference if aired up while you are towing. I did read the ecoDiesel springs are 10% stiffer to compensate for the added weight but I do not know if that is just up front or at all 4 corners.
Biggest impact on towing is going to be the reduction in payload because larger wheel/tire package is going to be heaver than the factory setup. Things like larger diameter impacting performance can be overcome by re-gearing. You will always be bound by your GVWR/GCWR listed.
Have a 'project' 48 like that sitting in my garage. Hope to get a side by side pic soon. Neither the original 'Jeep' Truck (yeah it is in quotes on the badge) or the Gladiator is on on my list of ugly Jeeps in my family. The CJ-10 and M677 get those honors.
I will do you one better. Just got off the phone with my dealer. Mine is getting loaded on a truck and once it leaves Toledo should be at my dealer in 1-2 days
Good news is the holdup isn’t the EPA. Question remains why they are all going to storage....
