  2. Just the little things

You and me both. Bought a new 73 CJ-5 for $3500! Had it for 15 years, two engines and a clutch- that’s it.
  3. Just the little things

FYI The Tacoma bed net fits well in the back of bed with a couple of hooks. Good for groceries etc.
  4. Jeep Gladiator Q4 and Full-Year 2021 U.S. Sales Figures

Today in Albuquerque I saw 5 Gladiators, and 8 Tacomas in a one-hour period.
  5. WARNING! Gen 3. Oil change not possible.

I just ordered a K&N version from ExtremeTerrain. Will be here in 5-7 days. I use K&N in my trucks.
  6. Should I get a winch? Please school me on them.

You never need it until you need it. Driving 4X4 since 1968, I've had winches on three of my vehicles. I've only had to recover my vehicle three times, but others many times. I even had one guy insist on giving me a 100 dollar bill - paid for part of my winch. Just be sure to keep the cable...
  7. Worst on Consumer Reports

Attached is a section on the 2021 Gladiator from CR. It looks about right, but very missing is no off-road test. They don't do that. Also, Gladiator is now rated above Tacoma.
  8. Worst on Consumer Reports

Yes, I ordered mine this week. I also hope I get a good one. I'm coming from a 2018 Tacoma TRD Pro because it just doesn't have the attributes I want and need in a 4X4, plus as a young guy I owned two jeeps, one I had for 15 years, and loved them every minute. The Tacoma has already had two...
  9. Worst on Consumer Reports

Geez, the Gladiator is a dream compared to my 53 Jeep M38-A1, and my 73 CJ-5. Loved them too. It's a truck with very low gearing (comparitively), a low range transfer case and solid axles. That's what I'm paying for. If I want comfort I'll drive my wife's Subaru Forester, which is great in...
  10. Worst on Consumer Reports

Whatever it is, would you want that during rock work?
  11. Worst on Consumer Reports

Also the Ridgeline is a frameless vehicle like the old VW bugs, and no trans case. Take that rock crawling!
  12. Because I read this forum

Did they fix that for 2022? My JTR order goes in tomorrow
  13. Because I read this forum

The only useful thing I learned as a Marine mechanic: PM today or repair tomorrow
  14. Because I read this forum

I’m glad I live in the desert! ?
  15. Because I read this forum

You should look at the Tacoma forum. You’d think none of them were running. All the reviews say JTs are more reliable now.
  16. Any Fix for the Awful Rev Hang?

Tacoma has that too. There is a fix for that on the Tacoma, but I never did it. I believe Toyota said it was for something about mileage, but no one believes it.
  17. Advanced safety group versus safety group

Yeah, but I'm used to it (silly topo). I've had 10 off-road vehicles since 1968, and wore out a couple. My '73 CJ-5 I bought new in '73 for $3400.00! I have to get into some places that even some dedicated 4-wheelers don't go. I've learned a lot the hard way, and I always get a winch with...
