  1. First Transmission Drain and Fill

E Your points about the 1.5l of fluid above the fill plug are very clear and very helpful. Thank you!
  2. Extended Warranty advice / recommendations?

Extended warranties are never bumper-to-bumper. This is a misnomer, or "lie" to sell you a warranty. The only bumper-to-bumper warranty is the one that came with the new car purchase, and even it may have limitations... Every contract has inclusions and exclusions. You need to have read the...
  3. Flat towing

...tow and if you forget to flip it back to jeep the jeep will tell you rear tail light not working.. I will try to snap some pics on Friday as I am out with the rig and heading back home to Ga Friday...
  4. Sirius XM Antenna Relocation/Upgrade

I installed a roof rack and my satellite radio started cutting out every 20 seconds or so. I found a relocation bracket made by Maximus 3, but it was $60. I fabricated my own metal bracket and mounted it above the driver's sun visor, like the Maximus 3, and it works great.
  5. How does an expert break in a new engine..

If you're following data? How do you incorporate the fact that the factory starts them, does some limited diag while they idle, and drives them out into a yard where they sit 2-3 days to get started, driven onto transport over the course of 12-48 hours, thed started, driven into a back lot, sit...

  7. 8 speed fluid change-level the truck or level the trans?

Update on 2026-06-09: After careful review of the ZF process document (see first attachment to this post), here are the findings: An ATF level check, as described in Section 12 of Pan Drop Instructions, is a necessary part of the pan drop process, and is completed after the vehicle has cooled...
  8. First Transmission Drain and Fill

Engine off and 5.5L came . Then only 4 back in . Something doesn't add up . Should have been able to get 5.5L back in the pan 🙄
  9. First Transmission Drain and Fill

I just did my first transmission service on a 2020 Gladiator Overland with 50k miles. A few things I came across: 1). I would recommend anyone doing this service to get a proper fluid extractor. I have one from Harbor Freight which was $90. Makes it WAY easier. I was able to extract 5.5L of...
  10. 8 speed fluid change-level the truck or level the trans?

Which is why ZF should clarify given that the transmission is mounted to a multitude of chassis. The trans pan mounting surface should be ground zero for level especially if the pump is that susceptible to premature wear from oil starvation.
  11. 8 speed fluid change-level the truck or level the trans?

Don't even need that. 4 stands up the same number of notches under the frame rails on reasonably level ground. Done. No need to use a level. No one does that.
  12. 8 speed fluid change-level the truck or level the trans?

You aren't going to get that much more out of or into with just 2 or 3" at either end. The middle doesn't change nearly as much as at the axle. A 2" level at the front of the truck won't change the transmission front end 2". As far as draining out, what's left in there is int the valve body...
  13. 8 speed fluid change-level the truck or level the trans?

One of the things I dont understand is some owners ( and its their prerogative) Are putting oils that have different pour temps than the original juice. Question: Does anyone think that hurts these transmissions ? Because I still see owners posting about doing fluid changes to Redline or some...
  14. 8 speed fluid change-level the truck or level the trans?

@Maximus Gladius helped me write the ATF testing procedure, for the automatic transmission, outlined in my post on ATF Equivalents. See the section called Testing. 7. Make sure that the vehicle frame is level; the front end of the frame should not be higher than the back end When a...
  15. 8 speed fluid change-level the truck or level the trans?

I decided to try filling it with the back tires raised up 10 inches. At this height the pan is more level but not quite. Would probably take another 2 inches for the pan to be level. My theory being that at higher temps the pump is sucking air for some reason from 1st to second shift. I never...
  16. 8 speed fluid change-level the truck or level the trans?

You don't want the pump sucking air - whine=bad. The rest isn't spinning inside so won't be a problem - nothing to lubricate other than the pump. Yeah, no need to jack it up other than for easier access - depending on your truck and your, um, well, size. This can be done flat on the ground -...

  19. MOPAR steel bumper "winch guard" questions

I miss my Maximus 3 triple hoop! I have the Mopar one on my rubicon. The Mopar is all the same size tube unlike the top picture.
  20. 2020 Gladiator, Oil pressure sensor or oil pump?

Most likely #1 You had oil getting to hot spots and staying there enough to take out the light parts of the oil, perhaps even burning it as it's held to the piston underside and rings longer than usual. #2 is possible, but most people choose a good oil and become "brand loyal" (sometimes, in...
