Changed a permanent wire connection of my CB radio and dashcam to a connector. Made the wires from the aux switches into a workable wire harness with plug. Now I can remove/upgrade/add gear easily to my switches
I will be redoing the soldered wire connections I did for the dashcam and CB radio, I wired them into the harness of the AUX switches, I will add the GMRS radio to them also, but I forgot I had weather pack connectors, used them on my Tacoma, I will chop the soldered connection out and build a...
...actual Jeep build is basically complete. (for the moment that is LOL)

...But I've driven it off and on since then, and had no issues. Suddenly today... why. The only non-factory draw I have would be from my dashcam, but 1) I've had that on for close to a year, and 2) it has built-in battery protection, and will shut off if it detects low amperage.

...month so any issues there have time to shake out before I leave.
I’ve got a ham radio installed in the truck, as well as a recently added dashcam. I plan on testing and if needed replacing the brake fluid, and in the truck I’ll have a jump pack and tire inflator/deflator kit.
I may visit...
...my wallet emptying process of getting the vehicle right, I know that I will do several lighting and a couple other electrical items like a dashcam. I am decent with mechanical stuff, but electical is NOT in my wheel house. Certainly, with all the computers and such, I do ot want to cause...
I bought mine off the lot. Getting a Rubicon in sarge green without the red dash was more of a priority. I did ask about having the dealership install the trail cam when I bought it but they said it was impossible. Apparently they haven't learned that if you tell a Jeep owner a modification is...

Thanks for info... I'm fairly confident my batteries are OK. I only wanted to give them a charge due to my short commute + always powered dashcam.
The dash cluster has consistently displayed the battery at 14.7V for weeks on end... I'm figuring between the above combination my battery isn't...
I wanted the trail cam. I'm glad it's there. I think that the Bolt is an incredible design. I *hope* they come out with a solution. I've seen people move the trail cam and then use a Bolt latch. I wish that Jeep would find a way to provide front and rear dashcams.
Nope.. everything hardwired is done via the pre-wired aux switches. (Winch, exterior lights are hooked up in the engine bay. Dashcam, and wireless charger (which apparently has problems with Pixel phones) are wired in via constant and switched power, respectively. Nothing running off the...
Has anyone tried these methods yet for a dashcam?
I planned to use taps for red and black off this unit (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07H7X37T6?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&ref_=cm_sw_r_ud_dp_SHDSA4NJ6Y4B19E95KJE) and mount the dashcam below the sensor/mirror housing.
...switches and 2 are keyed to the ignition. I used one of wires that are keyed from the ignition. I used that 12v to 5v step down mentioned above for power. I found out the hard way the dashcam doesn't like 12v power. Works great. It's small enough to hide behind mirror so it's not in...
Finally got around to installing Bulletpoint phone mount and tapping power from cigarette lighter for wireless charger and dashcam. Wanted to minimize cables all over and I don't need either of those things to have power when the truck is off so cigarette lighter was fine. Loom came with a 15A...
