  1. Another “clicking noise” thread (rear)

You did say "tight" but is everything at least torqued to minimum spec? How about the rear springs, are the top rubber isolator installed and the index nibs going through the top metal shelf? May also need to look at spring sleeves for the coils like the factory ones have to reduce spring...
  2. Waay off-topic - any HVAC contractors here?

Talked with reps from 3 businesses. The first one was the most impressive. He talked about all of the things they just automatically did or replaced, no question. He walked around looking at windows, orientation, adding things up, looked over the house inside and out and recommended a size that...
  3. Coverking headliner installed with sound deadening material. Lowered sound decibels in cabin significantly

Sorry to hijack again from the OP and Coverking. I wish I'd done Coverking before adding a cab-over camper but since I didn't, I had to go with Hotheads which don't require removing the top. I also added 100 mil sound deadening first (kilmat), under the Hotheads. I carefully test fitted...
  4. Coverking headliner installed with sound deadening material. Lowered sound decibels in cabin significantly

I did not. The hot heads panel is already pretty thick and uses what looks to be heat reflective material and deadening already. The tight clearances would be compromised IMO with additional material. There is no need for deadening material IMO.. it’s purely for heat insulation and to pretty up...
  5. Soft top Noise

Been running soft top since I got mine 3 years ago. Is it louder than the hard top? Yes. Is it that much louder than the standard hard top? No except in possibly a very strong headwind. I have no issues talking on the phone or hearing anyone during conversations. Most of the noise I get comes...
  6. Bestop SunRider for Hardtop - How Noisy?

2020 Gladiator Overland, Punk'n Orange Metalic, 57k miles, 21.3 mpg average. Stock wheels with Goodyear Wrangler ATA 255/70/R18 tires (zero road noise). I have the twill sunrider and thoroughly enjoy it. It's a soft top, so there will be some wind noise. You can reduce wind noise substantially...
  7. JT/JL Clutch and Flywheel explained by ACT

General Opinions: If everything is working properly, the stock parts should sufficiently handle the standard torque of the Pentastar and withstand normal driving. In my opinion the failures that have occurred are probably not directly caused by the internal clutch parts. Of course, that is still...

  9. Stop sale on manual transmission Gladiators (clutch assembly may overheat, causing a fire)

I know nothing about this system. But based on your description, it would also seem to reduce transient peak loads on the entire transmission. Which is not a bad thing.

  11. $1800 to install AEV spacer lift

You got lucky that your tire treads are strait? One can absolutely check/set toe, but a line needs to be scribed on the tread to ensure that the measuring points used are accurate. Measuring tread is not going to be accurate in most cases as manufacturers deliberately offset tread blocks to...
  12. Stop sale on manual transmission Gladiators (clutch assembly may overheat, causing a fire)

The Tacomas have Aisin transmissions, so why are they not having that problem. I had a 2018 TRDPro and I find the clutch/MT trans in my Gladiator a better fit, and I use it for rock crawling. But see below for the comment from FCA and my following.
  13. Let's talk bushings! (in track bars anyway)

Interesting I haven't looked at the OE arms close enough to see if the bushings are removable or not. But still seems to me it would be easier to find a OE part to replace a worn OE part in 10 years than something else. Maybe not but just my assumption. I think rotational force for a track...
  14. Let's talk bushings! (in track bars anyway)

JJ are great for off-road or specific uses. As a daily driver they are not the best. Rebuilding them is easy, but takes a little time as you have to remove them from the vehicle, rebuild and replace. I have an 06 LJ that I do this with. The harder the durometer rating the more likely it...
  15. Stop sale on manual transmission Gladiators (clutch assembly may overheat, causing a fire)

A dual-mass flywheel has unique torsional dampening characteristics that reduce transmitting engine pulses to the transmission, therefore reducing gear rattle noise. Also by putting the dampening before the clutch, solid center discs can be used which lowers loads on the synchronizers. I don't...
  16. New camper specs

I had the 2 point system before and used those pads before realizing they removed my only friction points ?‍♂️ haha i still have them and may give them a shot if they worked well for you.
  17. New camper specs

The Equilizer really is magical! I even added the friction pads to reduce noise knowing it reduces some of the sway control and I still had zero sway on the highway with some gusty winds and semi’s passing. It is a great hitch.
  18. Wind noise reduced 70%

I'd agree low hanging fruit worth looking at, especially when you are using this vehicle for overlanding and long trips. I 've had a YJ with a softop, JK with hard, softop, and Sunrider. I was quite surprised at the wind noise/whistling I am getting with my Gladiator with a hardtop and...
  19. Larger Highway Tires

Thank you for the reply. I had BFGs and Wildpeaks on previous vehicles and had good luck. I think I'll just switch over to ATs to keep the rugged look and still reduce the cabin noise.
  20. DIESEL ONLY: How long has your fuel pump lasted?

23k, I do use additive (LX4) (when warmer) specifically, and anti-gel additives with a lubrication additive in colder weather (sub 10F). Although when I do fill up at higher quality fuel stations (like Kum & Go) https://www.kumandgo.com/fuel/xtreme-diesel/ I typically don't add anything because...
