  1. Engine and manual transmission break in

I wouldn't give up yet. Did you do a break-in procedure yet? Full power bursts at mid RPM.
  2. Pros and con between wire rope and synthetic rope

I use a More Power Puller, big hand winch. An almost 30-year old one with a steel cable. Still good, but it only gets out every now and then. Weight would be a concern if I had a full spool on the front of a truck, but for the hand winch the weight difference wouldn't be much. Steel may be...
  3. Engine and manual transmission break in

Keep going! Maybe break it in a bit more with full throttle 3000 to 4000 RPM bursts. Tire size?
  4. Full belly aluminum skid plate comparison

Several brands have solid cross braces in front of the exhaust crossover.
  5. ARE CX Classic Installed (MattK)

The truck with the cap makes me wish they offered a JT-length SUV version.
  6. GMRS

Another thing about 15W vs 50W is the radiation you absorb from your own transmission, especially if the antenna is fairly close. This probably only matters if you are holding long conversations day after day, though. A little quarter wave may work better in mountains because the other party...
  7. GMRS

Some advocate for channel 16 (4x4) for offroad emergencies. In reality I just leave it on scan because there is no standard and someone in trouble probably won't think about moving to this or that channel. If someone is calling several times chances are good I'll hear them on scan.
  8. LiteBrite: AMW visit V8 ordered from Jeep?

Can the diffs handle the torque?
  9. Clunking at slow speeds while going over bumps. Could one these be the culprit?

Could be more than one thing loose. Also check shock bolts. Maybe bounce the bumper up and down to check.
  10. Thoughts coming from a full size pickup to a Gladiator?

I might be interested in a JT with a wider cab, or a SUV based on the JT.
  11. GPS?

Garmin units (and maybe TomTom as well?) are now using maps based on Open Street Map. I think this is true of our recent in-vehicle Garmin nav update as well. In many cases OSM has better maps of off road paths and hiking trails than Google does. Pull up openstreetmap.org and compare to...
  12. GPS?

Something like the Garmin Etrex 32x takes two AA batteries. Kind of the ultimate portable nav emergency backup. Tolerable if clunky usability, but the slow processor does save battery power. The Garmin RV and auto models have better usability and update-ability than the older Jeep nav. Dunno...
  13. Thoughts coming from a full size pickup to a Gladiator?

Still have the old Ram with solid front axle, 318 5-speed. Similar dimensions but wider cabin and better ground clearance. That and the new JT are both fun.
  14. stellantis Poll v-8 gladiator

So how does the 392 keep cool in the JL?
  15. Need suggestions on Tail lights

This is why if I ever get any LED tail lights for the truck, they will be easily replaceable standard DOT truck lights in a flush mount housing. Probably the Combat Offroad lights, unless someone comes up with something better.
  16. What is Average MPG

The reported average does appear to change fairly quickly when suddenly changing between highway and stop/go. I.e. Reset the counter, then do a 1000 mile drive on the highway across the country, then a day in local traffic.
  17. What is Average MPG

After a long drive at steady highway speed, hundreds of miles, the average does change fairly quickly once you hit suburban stuff. I don't think it's necessarily the average since the last reset, for example.
  18. Question about 35s on a sport non-max tow, with pizza cutters, stock wheels and no wheel spacers or lift

Used swaybar disconnect offroad? Any problems hitting fenders, etc if so?
  19. Question about 35s on a sport non-max tow, with pizza cutters, stock wheels and no wheel spacers or lift

Also interested, although I probably won't make the change unless we move some place where I'd use the clearance more often. Right now I have to go hundreds of miles to find a dirt road!
  20. GMRS antenna question

In Utah you may be bouncing signals off canyon walls and such. Fun stuff.
