  1. Diesel cooling options and ideas

With my rig, I don't have Water cooling issues, just oil cooling. Looking at a CFS race radiator as part of the upgrade. The only other option is it install the cooler under the front bumper behind the lower skid. This limits size to 4 inches tall and 21 wide. I am not sure that is enough...
  2. Diesel cooling options and ideas

First on the list will be a aux fuel tank with a gravity feed. The design will replace the sheet metal in the front bulkhead of the bed adding 16-17 gallons using minimal bed space.

  5. Kinda new here, but

For those who doubt fuel mileage claims.... Adaptive cruise control is not you friend. Every time you change throttle position you use more fuel. Speed, each rig has an optimal speed for fuel economy. In my case 60-65 is a target speed for best fuel mileage. Recently ran 1900+ miles to WY...
  6. Another Gladiator build....White JTRD

The ride quality is night and day different on long arms. Rattle Wagon has a Semi Float D60 rear. ARTEC does make a axle side mount for Dana 60 and now Dana 80s to work with their triangulated kit. Only down side is it takes forever to get them to deliver their kits/parts. ( promised 30 day...

  8. C pilar body bolt....

Bought be JT second hand and was told the C pilar body bolt fell out. There are no threads for the bolt to grab. I am assuming the nut has come unwelded from the body. Is there an access to get in there and replace the nut?
  9. Another Gladiator build....White JTRD

Looking toward the future and long overland trips. I think I have come up with an aux fuel tank design. Size 48inx17inx5in. this comes to about 16.5 gallons. Some say this is a big tank ok genius where do you mount it? This is the fun. The front wall of the Galadiator bed is simple sheet metal...

@Sunnysideup Thinking either the 5th or the 12th depending on what ole man winter hold for Idaho this winter. Hope our paths cross looking forward to meeting you. Cheers
  11. Bump steer ?

No way related, but then you say that it is. There is a lot of math that goes into a good handling suspension system. Simple geometry plays a very important role in handling. Simple correction make a huge impact on how a vehicle handles. I am sure you have are at least familiar with...
  12. Bump steer ?

Something else to consider is the rear track bar. This is shifting the axle in the opposite direction adding a Yaw component to the bump steer problem. In effect it magnifies it. Not sure what you end goal is. Tackle the front first. Then look at Rock Crawler or Artec for a upper...
  13. Bump steer ?

Do some research. Long arm systems remove both the upper and lower OEM mounting points and in favor of new mounting points closer to the Transmission cross member. Can this be done in the driveway or garage on jacks? Yes but I would rather be on a lift to do so. A front end install will take...
  14. Looking for a quite 38"/40" tire

BFG makes a KO2 maybe the KO3 in 39x12.50 by 17. Long lasting tire and very quiet. BFG is also building 40 and 42 inch tires in a 17 inch rim size.
  15. Bump steer ?

Why yes I have and do run Hydro assist from my favorite company PSC. I do not use it to fix bad bad designs. While it might give an impression of helping it really does very little. The bump steer problem is one of mismatched geometry ( even you acknowledge that in you response). I am not...
  16. Bump steer ?

Look at this video Bump steer explained visually start around 5:48
  17. Bump steer ?

Bump steer will not be corrected by adding a Hydro assist. The track bar is shorter than the Drag link meaning that they swing in two different arcs. This delta is what causes bump steer. Adding shocks and hydro cylinders doesn't change that fact. By adding 7-8 degrees of caster you will...
  18. Idaho BDR +

Finished up the suspension upgrade. Tore out the OEM short arm system and replaced it with an Artec long triangulated rear and long arm front. Next up the Trailer get a makeover. New suspension and new slide out kitchen. Yup going to plan on towing an off-road trailer ( my design) on this...
  19. Bump steer ?

How is that possible...... Simple. The OEM designed in the issue by not making them as close to the same length as possible. Two ways forward here: 1) Live with the bump steer, try to mitigate it with morte caster 7+ degrees. 2) Redesign the axle and frame end mounts to provide more length.
  20. Bump steer ?

Track bar and drag link lengths are the issue. they should be within an inch or two in length of each other. Parallel helps but not necessarily required. Length is what you need to be very close on.
