I haven't replaced anything. Haven't had any more errors. Voltage still does a wild dance all over, I assume based on system load and battery charge state as described previously. I've permanently turned off the stop start system. Also I use a 2 amp onboard desulfating battery charger...
Had no idea there were fluidic bushings on this. Might explain all the creaking noises I'm getting from the front mount area. That's probably what it is. Like others have said, there are no other fluids in that area.
I've removed one of the control arm skids as a trial in case it was preventing the full clamp force between mount ears and bushing. The bushing has a strange serration on it and has copied that into the ear surface. I wonder if skipping of those teeth is what I'm hearing. We will see what...
That's the other perplexing part... it's not consistent with similar events. Best I can tell is when the axle gets torqued when stopping or starting in certain ways. Can feel it at times in the floorboard and through steering wheel. If it did it more often I'd aim for ball joints. Otherwise...
Getting a popping/creaking noise from the front end on my 21 rubi diesel. Have retorqued body mounts and lower front control arm bolts where I've added accessories. Little to no change. Noticed the control arm bushing condition in the attached photo that makes it look like it's coming out of...
Sounds worse than it feels, still a bit jarring depending on how fast sprung pieces are traveling. Factory front bump stops don't give a lot of cushion or slowing before a hard thud. I think I'm running into it just because I've added a bunch of weight. Still torn on trying a spacer and...
Thinking about this further after crawling underneath this weekend, I'm thinking I might have to lift to get a stiffer coil. If I put in a spacer, seems like the coil might fully compress on itself before bottoming out the bump stop. Not a good practice generally. Even just a longer coil...
Been emailing fox, bilstein, AEV, and Accutune over the last day. Looking like Bilstein will have a zero lift option shortly once they confirm no changes from 20 to 21. They recommend the same shock part for both gas and diesel 20 Wranglers. Fox says their aftermarket 2.0 shocks are stiffer...
Fox elite 2.5 is too far out of the box. I rather wait for a full AEV lift kit at that price.
related: the mopar lift kit has 2.5" shocks without reservoir, correct? Where is that listed on the Fox site? Or is it a Mopar exclusive?
PERFORMANCE ELITE SERIES 2.5 RESERVOIR SHOCK (PAIR) -...
from AEV's product page:
This suspension and spring/shock tune was designed for the gas engine Gladiator. The Ecodiesel adds a significant amount of weight to the vehicle, which AEV is currently developing a new version of the 2.5” springs for. That being said, all AEV DualSport suspensions are...
hoping to stay out of lift other than put that 3/4" coil spacer in to bring the front back up. So looking for "stand alone" shock options. Bilstein tech support said they have no products for this application currently. I'll have to look at what AEV is using. they might be too long for stock...
Anyone else finding the factory rubicon fox shocks insufficient for their diesel? Especially after adding steel bumper, winch, and steel rock sliders, the suspension has squatted in the front and damping seems lacking (wasn't great before either). I'm hitting bump stops on highways/interstates...
