Everyone says 35s (or 37s!) are the way to go, but I see nothing wrong with something slightly smaller. I went with the 285/70R18 Ridge Grappler. It specs out at 33.98" as compared to the 34.76" diameter of a 35", which means I give up about 3/8" of ground clearance! Looking closer at the...
Got it back today, but it'll be a few days before I get a chance to take it into the woods. They installed a "switch: transfer case" (5083138AA), then a "module: transfer case" (68483375AC). A trim piece was also replaced due to damage. As expected, I did have to pay the shop rate for them to...
Brought it in 7am yesterday, called them at 4pm to check the status. They had to order some (more) parts, maybe late next week. So now I'm driving a brand new Grand Cherokee 4xe that had 36 miles on it when I left with it!
Like I said, "Then there's the possibility that it turns out that's...
I always go to neutral. Dealer had it today, they traced the fault to the transfer case actuator. It's on order, I go back later in the month. While it is under warranty, I'll have to pay labor for the time it takes to remove/reinstall skid plates.
When shifting back to 2H, the transfer case lever is put in 2H position, I get indicator lights for 4L and 2H and the vehicle acts as if it's still in 4L (same gearing, front diff engaged) until vehicle is shut off and restarted.
Transfer case lever is at
Transmission (automatic) is in neutral.
When I shift from 2H to 4L (while coasting about 2-3mph) I get the following messages-
AutoPark Disabled
Electronic Stability Control Off
Indicator lights are on for Forward Collision OFF and ESC OFF
After a short distance driving in 4L the following messages appear-
Traction Control On...
For car thieves, time is a luxury. If they're towing, perhaps parking or leaving it in 4wd may thwart or slow them down. If they're entering the vehicle to start it electronically, even a tazer with a pin will slow them down.
There's a gap there probably because they need the bumper to also fit JTs that don't have the higher fenders (like my Overland). You can see from my photo that the Rubicon fenders would have a larger gap. Bumper is a JCR Vanguard, which I believe they discontinued.
It's not a specific setting, it automatically shuts off the plate lights when you put it in reverse. I think there is a specific setting that you can have the camera come on when making a turn and have the plate lights turn off.
I noticed also that the end of the link was slightly egg-shaped, so I just ordered a pair of links and a pair of brackets. With the wheeling that I do, I figured that will give me a spare set for when it happens again....
I do plan on calling AEV in the morning. Part of the bracket moves the brake line and sensor wires closer to the axle to compensate for the lift. I'm thinking a heavier duty set-up would be preferable, as I do moderate wheeling.
The Metalcloak brace only supports the original mounting point for the link, the AEV bracket drops the mounting point about 1 1/2" lower. I'm thinking of just going Clayton links in the original mounting point, keeping the AEV bracket (cut off the ragged edge) for the added thickness at that...
